Chinese Hamsters

The Chinese Hamster is often referred to as the "rat-like" hamster because of it's longer tail. It also has a thin, mouse-like body which is not like any of the other types of hamsters. These hamsters are not as commonly kept as pets as the Russians are. Like the Russian dwarfs, they can also be kept in same-sex or mixed-sex groups or pairs if introduced while they are still young. Life span for this species is about 2 years.

Here is a litter of Chinese hamsters and two mottled babies from the litter.
A big THANK YOU to Kayla for the use of these pictures!
