*~*Chapter 42*~*
Howie and Kari sat at the table flipping through wedding magazines.Kari
pointed to a wedding dress.
"Oooh,that's beautiful," she breathed,and Howie pointed to a tux he
liked.He was about to make a comment when someone pounded on the door.
Kari went and answered it.When she opened the door,she was surprised to
find Blane standing on the doorstep,holding a siutcase,tears falling down her
face.She set the suitcase down and threw herself into Kari's arms.
"I'm sorry to barge in on you like this,but I just left Nick.I hate him
so much right now," she sobbed.
Kari grabbed her suitcase,and led her inside.Howie walked into the
room,and when he saw Blane,he walked over and hugged her.
"What's wrong?," he asked,as she sobbed into his chest.
They went over and sat down on the couch,one on each side of her.Kari
handed her a tissue,and Blane blew her nose and took a deep,shaky breath.
"Nick is a lying,cheating bastard and I hate him so much right now that I
could kill him," she blurted out,her body once again shaking with sobs.
Howie patted her on the arm."Blane,tell us what happened," he gently
coaxed her.
Blane tried to explain without getting more upset."He and Amy fooled
around right before we got married.Amy told me everything when I met her for
lunch today.Nick has been lying to me our entire marriage."
Howie whistled."I can't believe Nick would do something like that," he
muttered.
Blane turned to him."Well,he did," she snapped at him.
Kari was just about to say something when the doorbell rang.She went to
answer it,and a second later returned with Nick.
Blane jumped to her feet."Get away from me Nick.I don't want to see you,"
she shot at him.
He walked over to her and took a deep breath."Can we at least go
somewhere and talk?I'm sure we can work this out," he remarked.
She crossed her arms over her chest."You can't seem to get it through
your head, Nick,that you were with another woman!You don't even seem to
care," she exclaimed.
He sighed."I do care Blane.I'll do anything to make it up to you.Please.I
can't lose you,Blane.I love you so much."
She shook her head."You should've thought of that before you did what you
did,Nick," she said.
He glared back at her."Damnit,Blane.What am I gonna have to do to show
you how sorry I am?," he begged her.
"Absolutley nothing.Because I want nothing to do with you anymore.Like I
said before,Nick,we're through," she spat at him,and turned and walked away.
Nick started after her,but Howie stopped him by grabbing his shirt sleeve.
"Let her go,man.Give her time to cool off," he said.
Nick wiped the tears from his face and took a deep breath.
Kari went after Blane,and Nick and Howie went outside to talk.
