Standardbred Gelding

"

Sculpted by Tracie Caller (2005)

A breed seldom created in sculpture, the standardbred created specifically for its trotting ability and not for its looks (historically, they had to trot a mile within a "standard" time in order to be called a standardbred!). However, these horses have so much character I just had to sculpt one. This standardbred gelding is pacing, a gait in which both legs on the same side of the horse move forward in unison. He is currently being produced in a limited edition resin edition by artist Randy Buckler, and will be produced in bronze in the future (please e-mail me if you are interested in purchasing a bronze).
