Most of these links are basically just good places to go if you're bored. This section used to be formatted differently and I had them categorized and everything but I thought that was sort of stupid. Since I'm feeling motivated I thought I'd redo it all and here I am and here is the page:
This is the homepage belonging to Lindsey Wiebe who had provided the initial inspiration for Et cetera with the ramblings subdirectory of the main page. If you do happen to read it, I recommend starting from the earliest date listed in the frame off to the side. It just works. Other recommended features are the as yet untitled Final Fantasy 7 fan fiction story found here having been divided into five parts. It is presently unfinished, but that's due to change, I think, as opposed to the current status of the unfinished dreams directory which consists of written accounts of many ventures into Lindsey's subconscious mind. Enjoy your stay despite frequent changes in weather.
An extremely large volume of text of several different varieties centering around the life of a one 20 year-old Thomas. It is the largest online journal I have come across yet, cosisting of fragmented coverage of five years of his life, which is ongoing still. Reading all of this, while recommended, is very time-consuming and deemed impossible by many, but if you can handle an especially blunt human being, this is a great place to find it. Opinions on what kind of person Thomas is vary from reader to reader, but if you have any interest in the psychology of a working mind, read the section titled Adelia which will present itself in a seemingly complex file tree of links. Clicking any one of these will bring you to a page of text be it large or small that consists of fictional conversations between Thomas himself and a separate imaginary entity which he has created to explicate his own ideas of the ideal mate. The Dictionary directory is a list of primarily intelligent interpretations of words he uses and the context in which he uses them. This is both a helpful and insightful exploration of Thomas's perception when reading the Journal section. Thomas has a section of links which includes several other valuable connections to websites that I have chosen not to include here.
Here's an interesting message board community that I have been a part of for close to a year and a half now. It's undergone so many changes that I don't think I could possibly describe its present state accurately using my own perception. However, while the various people have come and gone, several still remain and many boards have held a strong community-type feeling to them for some time now. The main feature of these boards originally was what drew everyone into one place, that being the Star Wars prequels. Nightly.Net is the brainchild of a one chris and is spawned from his former homepage at Lando System and the massive collection of drugs that have gathered there.
This page contains a number of interesting things even if it appears to be small. First is a 'nothing limited' logo as though it were a company or something. Followed by a paragraph by Charles S. Pierce explaining the relation between a philosophical and scientific meaning of nothing as opposed to the numeral zero. It's way over my head and I certainly don't get it. Too many commas. Anyway, then there's a little button that says 'Randomize," which I don't understand at all. Clicking this button will bring you to Dictionary.com's Word of the Day. There is a link at the very bottom of the page whereby you can e-mail the webmaster of nothing.com, but I can't imagine why. What would you say? "Hey man, I really like that shade of grey!" However, this link presents itself in an interesting way. Holding your mouse over the link will allow a large descriptive help window to flash and unless you're a really fast reader, good luck trying to see it. The only way to read the text that flashes for only a second is to view the source. Have fun.
Funny how this, the best website on the internet, has less content than nothing.com...
Two slightly psychotic individuals from Nightly.net created this message board where everyone is to de-evolve for awhile and just act really stupid for the sake of a laugh. The best example of this scary behaviour is Calling All Honeybees which is a deep exploration into precambrian philosophy. Sort of.
Clicking this link will bring you to a complex collection of computer characters that has a coincidentally identical color scheme to the Matrix. Every once in awhile, there will be some links in the middle of this collaboration of text that brings you to some subdirectories that make sense. Well, more sense than the main page. To help better navigate, I can refer you to the "fun" section of the page, located here. It contains some ingenius programming such as the random text generator which I am entertained immensely by. A similar program is the random image generator which creates a collage of images randomly selected from the web. Exploring further is sure to grant you other interesting documents.
The page belonging to a one Pixie Amnell that has a seemingly random collection of different...things. I really don't know what to call it, but I suppose its true to its name. I would recommend the Random thoughts of blindness which, while making little sense at times, are an interesting read. However, the most interesting point to the site is the Excessive rambling section where everything is random and nothing appears to be connected to anything else. Watch for the scrolling prolation, "Suck my rules!" It's rather good.
A typical online service whereby you register and select your mood from a list of about 500 or so. Tell your friends and develop a buddy list where you can view all your friends' current imoods. My imood can be found at the bottom of the main page here at Et cetera.
Your Premier Source For The Latest Guitar Tabs, Drum Tabs & Bass Tabs This link obviously isn't recommended for everyone. Only those who play either the guitar, the bass guitar or a drum set. It has a rather large volume of tablature to choose from. There are also Guitar Forums where an interesting little community has developed. Cyberfret.com is another link connected to TabCrawler which has some pretty decent online guitar lessons if you happen to have one lying around the house somewhere.
A highly useful online resource that really needs little explanation. I recommend the stupendous Word of the Day section which you can also subscribe to by e-mail. Though I have tried this several times, it just doesn't work. If anyone else experiences the same problem please let me know and we'll start a rebellion against the webmasters. Also, the FAQ's are interesting, which is good because I don't usually find them that engaging no matter what site it is. Lots of cool English language trivia like palindromes. Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog!!
Ah yes, The Misanthropic Bitch, a nineteen year-old cynic who writes articles about current events and her hatred for children as well as teen mothers. The site also has a great deal of her hate mail uploaded and subsequently responded to. It's a good read, really. Take a look around. If you find "Santa hates you kid, and your mom is whore" entertaining at all, you're sure to enjoy this.
CraZed is not exactly a phenomenal website on the net. I can't remember how I found it, but I explored it quite thoroughly one boring afternoon. I have to say that is a very entertaining place to be for the first little while. They have message boards that are relatively busy, but I find that it's only an entertaining place to be for a couple of weeks. Then you lose interest. So, if you're looking for a quick fix of internet entertainment, try this out.
By the title, you'd think this was an immature page run by a snotty-nosed science fiction nerd or something, but in fact, this page contains a series of technical commentaries on the Star Wars universe treating their technology as though it were being applied to the actual laws of science. It's extremely interesting and was most helpful while I wrote my Star Wars novel. I recommend the section on lightsabres and how they work and what not. Most of it is way over my head, but I still got a lot out of this page.
Eventually I'm creating a banner for this page, as it does belong to Jonathan, a friend of mine. The site consists of primarily random content including a section on animé and some particularily pretty profiles of his fellow alcohol-consuming buddies. The primary feature appears to be the rants section, intentionally similar to that of the Et cetera network except divided into two sections according to mood.
