A Bit of Prose

So here I am again, again attempting to put my short stories on this page after several failed attempts. This should work, though, it's a considerable improvement in terms of organization. Nothing too flashy. At least not yet. I do have a good idea for this table, but it takes a lot of work and I won't bother with that for now. Anyway, with regards to the downloading process: if you choose to download these stories, they will be in .doc format when extracted from their zip file. The zip file name will indicate the lowest version of Microsoft Word that the file will correctly open in (i.e. craig-w97.zip is viewed best in Microsoft Word 97 or higher).

Anakin Skywalker's Anecdote Written after Laura Reed's Anecdote, listed below, this was something I did for the fan fiction forum at nightly.net, which is the case quite often. A story about snow. Word Document Timothy La Rocque
Craig Loses the Game A short little product of boredom during science class about bowling and birthdays. Word Document Timothy La Rocque
End? A man gets hit by a car unexpectedly. This is a first person perspective account of the incident. Word Document Timothy La Rocque
Ghorhin and the Star Dragons A brief fantasy story. I haven't much experience in writing fantasy, and even then this is Timothy La Rocque story which doesn't really advance the likelihood of me writing something better in the genre. Word Document Timothy La Rocque
The Jagged Key The first mystery I had written since Grade 3's Crumb and Cheesy Mouse Detectives series. I have yet to determine if this is superior or not. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Laura Reed's Anecdote I've never liked poetry or been good at it but that is basically the sole reason why this was ever written. It wasn't treated very nicely by most people including myself. That's the trouble with things that I rush to finish just because I think it's "due." Anyway, it's basically just a depressing anecdote, which is in no way related to the aforementioned science fiction anecdote above. Word Document Timothy La Rocque
A Letter to Home An idea I had for a story that turned into a piece of Star Wars fan fiction somehow. Fortunately, the idea just happens to fit the genre perfectly and I can't think of any reason to change it. A lot of my writing is like this simply because of the message boards I frequently visit. At one time, I posted a lot of it there and that just happens to be the favoured category. Word Document Timothy La Rocque
A Letter to No-one: Troy's Last Entry Many many months before this was written I had promised a sequel and forgotten that I made that promise. I only stumbled upon the archived thread of the message boards where I made that statement much later and finally did get around to writing it. Word Document Timothy La Rocque
Makeshift Shakespeare - Romeo & Juliet Similar to the work found on the Succedaneum Fairy Tales section of Et cetera, this is just a retelling of Romeo & Juliet in basic vernacular. I just find that iambic pentameter gets frustrating to read after awhile. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Next Time Won't You Sing With Me... Here's something pretty stupid. Please, don't read it. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
The Perfect Mind Fictional essay of sorts about a computer that analyzes its own faults and corrects them until they have achieved immaculate functionality. Word Document Timothy La Rocque
The Proston Conspiracy A short little tale that became a popular read on the Nightly.net message boards. In a very impersonal way, it tells the story of the myserious disappearance of two little girls in a small town. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
The Single Red Cloud This is a humourous bit of historical fiction about the employees at Ton of Fun when I worked there. Littered with inside jokes, it isn't likely to make much sense to anyone who reads it other than the employees. But if for some godforsaken reason you are obsessed with my writing, well, by all means click your heart out. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part I - Renaissance of War The first of ten parts to a Star Wars serial novel I wrote that basically rushes through an introductory story to provide you with some typical science fiction storylines with brand new characters. Anyone who reads this whole novel online might consider updating your prescription for your glasses when you're through. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part II - An Order of Peace Not much can be said to summarize a sequel without the reader having already completed the first. However, I can say that I enjoyed writing part II and I did it one sitting over a period of about seven hours. Good fun. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part III - The New Empire A major turning point in the story being told in this novel, part III was carefully constructed over a period of several months with the assistance of my friends' interesting input into the outcome of the climax. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part IV - Commanding the Globes This took ages to write because nothing really happens and when nothing happens, it's hard to think of what kind of sentences to fill the gap. It was only about three-quarters of the way in that I decided to put something interesting. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part V - Universal Terror I distinctly remember changing the entire way I was writing the 0027 novel during this story. I don't think it changed at all after this, though. Even then, I doubt the change would be noticed by the average reader. It's just one of those things I pick up on while writing. Anyway, this story's rather depressing for you desensitized, evil literature masochists. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part VI - Corruption of the Force Originally this title belonged to the seventh story, but when I finished the whole thing I realized that it was far more appropriate here, as the seventh story has nothing to do with corruption of the Force but it is basically the foundation for Part VI. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part VII - Rivals on the Battlefield The shortest of the ten increments of the Star Wars 0027 novel at 24 pages, this is written purely for entertainment purposes and has very little real literary value. Another filler for the more important eighth story. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part VIII - High Council of Castleguard Probably one of the most important parts to the story as a whole, the eighth segment consists of thirty-eight pages of disquietude and dialogue. This one also took ages to write. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part IX - Gathering of the Jedi This was actually written and completed before any of the other 0027 stories with the help of some massive brainstorming between me and my friends. Most of it was done in one sitting, bar the last few pages or so. It has since been edited to include some characters that I hadn't tarried for at the time of its writing. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Star Wars 0027 - Part X - The Last Strife in the Stars When I first laid out the ideas I had for the entire novel, I had divided the events to occur into twelve separate stories rather than 10. It became apparent later that I really didn't have enough material for twelve and eleven would be optimum. But nobody ends a series on part eleven. As a result, this story is twice as long as most of the others at sixty pages. Word Document Randall J. Morrison
Three Years The product of a time in math class when I challenged myself to write a story in ten minutes. Initially I had titled it Four Years in the hopes that I would have enough time to finish four paragraphs of description but the bell rang early and I had to shorten it. Word Document Randall J. Morrison

Clarke's Law - Genesis Minus Itself A great deal of brainpower went into this story that presents bits and pieces of science and science fiction that are difficult to fathom and entertaining enough to be made into a story, but difficult to read if you're really looking to understand it all. Word Document R.C Allen
Hello, Stranger: A Chatroom Story I originally wrote a story under this title but it was deleted due to an unfortunate computer-related mishap. Later on, R.C Allen wrote and posted this story on the nightly.net message boards as an encomium to my presumptive disappearance from those boards. I returned to discover that he did a much better job with it than I could have. Word Document R.C Allen
