Tickford and Ford operate a joint venture company called Tickford Vehicle Engineering (TVE), established late in 1991, to design, develop and manufacture an exciting range of options and models based on the mainstream Ford vehicles.
The origins of the Tickford company in the United Kingdom can be traced back more that 170 years where they started as coach building specialists long before the motor car was invented.
Today Tickford in Australia is located less than one kilometre from the Falcon production line on 25,000 square metres.
The staff of 130 turn over more than 10,000 cars a year strictly controlled by QS 9000 quality systems.
Tickford Models
Some of the highlight models produced by Tickford include the Capri Clubsprint, the EB and EL GT which both produced 200kw and both had wild bodykits and scoops, Falcon XR8 Sprint, The mean looking Fairlane By Tickford which sold many. The complete range of XR6 and XR8. The T-Series which includes the TE50 which has 200kw, the TS50 which has a whopping 220kw and the TL50 which is a sporty fairlane producing 200kw and ford have just released the new AU series 2 XR8 with a high output of 200kw.
These models, are fitted with the winged Tickford logo because Tickford further developed all the major mechanical, body and trim parts to suit various small volume market segments.
All vehicles and options built by Tickford go through the same rigorous test regime at Ford's engineering facility in Geelong and are therefore covered by the Ford three year/100,000 kilometre warranty.
Production
Situated in Broadmeadows, less than 1 kilometre from Ford, Tickford operates on a very flexible multi-station production line. Vehicles are received from Ford in various stages of completion, depending on the options specified. This ensures that there is no duplication of tasks and no wastage.
Quality
Co-operation between Tickford and Ford engineers during the design phase ensures that all Tickford enhancements are fully compatible with the base vehicle. Tickford is able to design, engineer and assemble product which complies with Australian Design Rules and Ford's own international standards. Tickford's engineering and manufacturing process is accredited to ISO 9000 and QS 9000.
