Humming softly, Kerstmisa strolled over to the couch, picking up a small jar of oil along the way. Leyoth loved to be oiled. As she knelt beside Leyoth Kerstmisa's bright green eyes lit with joy and she started to sing the words along with her humming. Raising her wedge-shaped head slightly, the hatchling began to croon along with her. "You are so beautiful, my Leyoth." the girl murmured softly. At that the dragon turned and nudged the girl forcefully, making her giggle. "I know, and I'm not scared to go outside anymore without my veil. You are the best thing that's ever happened to me, Leyoth." Satisfied, Leyoth stretched out upon her couch again, crooning with delight as Kerstmisa oiled her back. Before Kerstmisa could begin singing again, a gold queen firelizard launched herself toward the girl's shoulder, eyes whirling in indignation.
The girl laughed and reached over to stroke the gold's eyeridge. "Yes, you're wonderful, too, Glory. I wouldn't dream of leaving you out." Leyoth looked over at Glory with disdain as the firelizard began to preen. Kerstmisa began to sing again and the hatchling's eyes whirled with delight before the lids closed over them. Sighing, Leyoth lapsed into sleep. Kerstmisa sat beside her darling for a while before getting up and moving to the sandtable in her small bed chamber, followed by Glory, who perched on the back of the chair. She had inscribed some of her latest ditties on the sandtable, most of them about dragons and the thrill of Impression. Kerstmisa had been apprenticed to a harper for a short time before Impressing, and she still loved to sing and compose. More recently she had started to dance to her songs as well, no longer inhibited by the disfiguring birthmark that covered most of her body. Leyoth's unconditional love, as well as being Glory's 'pet human', had cured her of that. With one last glance into the main cave to make sure the hatchling was sleeping soundly, Kerstmisa turned her attention to the sandtable, gnawing on a hangnail as she pondered the best words for her song.
