This interesting photo is of my friend, the marmot. Around Old Faithful, you can almost always expect to see a few of these guys posing for photos. They like to get about ten feet or so from the boardwalk, stand on their hind legs, and check out their "fans". This is a great time for a photo.Toward the end of summer, marmots are almost too big to stand on their legs. They have eaten so much over the summer that their undersides drag on the ground. At times like this, keep your eye out for coyote VS marmot matches on Geyser Hill.
