Deb: Here's the response to an e-mail I sent on the construction schedule:
Ms Demler:
We thank you for your interest in this highway construction project. We agree with you that this segment of the Grand Loop Road is in need of reconstruction.

..... this project was canceled on January 26, 2000 because of lack of funding.
Deb: Is funding waiting for approval from the National Park Service or from Congress?
Funds are reserved on a project by project basis by the National Park Service (NPS). All bids were in excess of the reserved amount. Therefore, NPS did not have enough money to allow us to award this Madison to Norris Segment A.
Deb: Do you have any idea when this project might be scheduled?
We anticipate advertising a revised version of this project in the Fall of 2000. Therefore, this cancelation is merely a delay of the needed work.
