Upon Washburn's Peak

By Tim Williams

The sun shines stronger, the stars seem sharper,
Upon Washburn's peak.
The world seems smaller, the wilderness bigger,
Upon Washburn's peak.
My troubles seem far, joy is near,
The wolf roams free, the grizzly has no peer,
The sheep cling to the sides so sheer,
Upon Washburn's peak.

The breeze is cooler, the eyes shine brighter,
Upon Washburn's peak.
The sky seems closer, civilization farther,
Upon Washburn's peak.
The pika hides in safety, the marmot sits in sun,
The hawk circles high, the fox is quick to run,
The father smiles at the awe shown by his son,
Upon Washburn's peak.

The rocks seem older, the people younger,
Upon Washburn's peak.
The storms seem greater, the lightning brighter,
Upon Washburn's peak.
My muscles are tired, my heart beats strong,
I've climbed this mountain, now my soul sings it's song,
I sit next to God, with His creation I sing along,
Upon Washburn's peak.

The friendships are fonder, the connections stronger,
Upon Washburn's peak.
God is closer, Nature opens to those who seek her,
Upon Washburn's peak.
Won't you come and join us? We will walk hand in hand,
We will share joy and laughter, we will gaze upon the land,
We will join with all who care, we will protect all that's grand,
Upon Washburn's peak.
