Kristen woke up the next day around noon after Cassie and Angela left for work. She went into Angela's room to find her address book hoping that AJ's number was in it which it once. She picked up the phone and dialed his number. On the third ring AJ picked up.
"Hello?"
"Hey AJ it's me, Kristen."
"Oh hey it's glad to have your voice be the first one I've heard today. So what's up?"
"I need to go shopping and Angela and Cassie are at work and I don't want to go alone. So I was wondering if you would come with me?" Kristen asked.
"Hey if shopping is involved I'm there. What do you need to go shopping for?"
"Well Nick asked me out to dinner tonight and I wanted to buy something new."
"Do you want me to pick you up?" AJ asked.
"That would be great. Give me an hour okay?"
"Sure see you then, bye."
"Bye," Kristen said then hung up the phone and went and got in the shower. She just let the hot water run down her body for a while and when she stepped out of the shower she noticed she had been in the shower for half an hour. She wrapped a towel around her body and walked into her room to find something to wear. She was having trouble finding something to wear since she wanted to look nice for AJ. 'This is so stupid. I'm trying to impress two Backstreet Boys. How pathetic and I get?' Kristen thought to herself. She finally decided on some short black skorts, with a blue spaghetti strapped shirt that zipped up just above her belly button and up. The shirt rest just below her waist and was showing a little stomach. She didn't have time to blow dry her hair so she just let it go curly and she put on her make-up. By the time she was done she heard a knock on the door and went and answered it.
"Hey, Kristen you look great. You should just wear that outfit tonight," AJ said walking in and giving her a kiss on the cheek.
"Thanks AJ but I think I'll just buy something new. You ready to go?"
"Yes I am, let's go," AJ said taking Kristen's arm and leading her out to his car. "Have you eaten lunch yet?"
"No, not yet," Kristen responded.
"How about we go and get something to eat. My treat."
"That's sweet thanks. It sounds good to me. I am a little hungry."
"Alright, how does McDonald's sound?"
"You and your McDonald's," Kristen said sarcastically.
"What's wrong with Mc D's?"
"You like it to much but I'm in the mood for a cheeseburger so lets go," Kristen said as they drove to McDonalds. They got their food and sat down and started talking.
"You excited about tonight?" AJ asked Kristen.
"Excited? More like nervous."
"What's to be nervous about? It's only dinner you know."
"I know but I always get nervous before a date. It's just the way I am."
"You're scared about what he's going to think about you tonight aren't you?" AJ asked. Kristen looked at him for a second. "Yeah that's why you're nervous but you don't need to be. Nick likes you and I don't think that will change over dinner tonight. So don't worry. Things will go well."
"You know me too well AJ."
"Can't help it. You're interesting."
"How so?"
"I don't know. You just are. I don't know how to explain myself."
"That works for me," Kristen said smiling at AJ. About fifteen minutes later they left to go shopping.
"Where do you want to go first?" AJ asked.
"I don't know. What are some good stores?"
"There is a store downtown that you might like. I've only been there once since it's only female clothing."
"Then what were you doing there?"
"One of my old girlfriends dragged me in there. I didn't mind seeing her model the clothes in there though considering a lot of them show a lot of skin."
"Okay, that's enough information. Let's just go." About twenty minutes later they pulled up to a store that said "Suki's" on the front. "What is a Suki's?"
"Let's just go in. You'll like the clothes." They went inside and Kristen instantly fell in love with some outfits she saw on display.
"I think we'll be in here awhile AJ."
"Told you that you would like it." Kristen had been looking around for awhile and tried on a couple of outfits but she didn't like the way they looked on her. "How about this?" AJ asked holding up an outfit.
"That is cute!"
"Go try it on and let me see what you look like in it." Kristen took the outfit and went into the dressing room. She came out in black sheer lace see through pants on that had darker black butterflys on it. Under the pants were a pair of shorts that weren't too short and weren't too long. The top matched the sheerness of the pants and it had a black shirt underneath of it and it was spaghetti strapped. On of the straps there was a silver and black butterfly.
"So what do you think?" Kristen asked turning around showing AJ the whole outfit.
"That is the outfit. You definately need to get it. I think Nick will like it a lot."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I'm sure. Do you like it?"
"I love it."
"Then it doesn't matter what Nick thinks as long as you like it so go buy it."
"Alright," Kristen said and went into the dressing room to change. She came back out and paid for the outfit. "Can we go to a shoe store next? I need shoes to match," Kristen said getting in the car. AJ took her to a shoe store where she found a pair of shoes that matched perfectly. They were black, open toed and they had black butterflys on them. It was going on five o'clock when AJ took Kristen back to her apartment. AJ walked her inside. "Thank you so much AJ for taking me out. I had a lot of fun."
"Me too. You better go get ready so your not running late when Nick comes by and picks you up. He is lucky to be going out with someone as beautiful as you tonight."
"Thanks so much AJ," Kristen said as she kissed him on the cheek. "You are such a good friend to me. Promise me we'll never lose that."
"I promise. It's either friendship or more nothing else right?"
"Right."
"Alright, see you tomorrow Kristen," AJ said walking out the door.
"Bye," Kristen said then went to get ready for her date with Nick.
