Part 7
"Here Kristen. You can sit here," Nick said as he pulled out a chair for her. He began pulling out a chair for himself next to Kristen when he was shoved out of the way by AJ who stole his seat. "You will pay for this Bone," Nick whispered in AJ's ear.
"Hey you snooze you loose man. That's the way the game is played," AJ said. Kristen looked at them questioningly but decided not to bother to ask what was up with them. Howie was sitting on the other side of Kristen which made her really nervous. Cassie was between Howie and Brian. After they ordered their food Kristen struck up a conversation.
"Okay, I'm totally confused about this whole deal here," she said.
"What do you mean?" Angela asked.
"Well, you are going out with Brian aren't you?" Kristen asked. She saw Cassie give Angela an evil look about it but just blew her off.
"Yeah, so."
"How? How do you know the Backstreet Boys and end up dating one of them?" Kristen asked.
"Me and Nick went to the same elementary school together when we were little. We weren't in the same class considering I was a little older than him but we used to play together during recess. When he went off with the Backstreet Boys I was upset cause we were really good friends and he didn't talk to me for awhile since he was over in Europe. When he came back home his parent's a welcome home party at his place and all the guys were there and I was invited. So that 's how I met Brian and well now you know," Angela said.
"Interesting, I still think it's weird though that you're dating a Backstreet Boy, no offense to you guys but it still seems a little awkward." Kristen said.
"I'll say," Cassie commented under her breath.
"We're just normal guys. Hopefully you can get use to some of our crazy ways," Howie said. Kristen smiled in return and then she felt a hand on her bare leg then AJ whispered something in her ear.
"Would it still be weird if it was you dating a Backstreet Boy?" he asked. Kristen took his hand and placed it on his own leg and looked at him. "Sorry about that," he whispered. Nick saw what he did and threw a piece of garlic bread at him and missed going right down Kristen's shirt which made her jump up. AJ was laughing hysterically.
"Oh, you did not just do that Mr. Carter!" Kristen hollered at him.
"I am so sorry Kristen!" Nick said laughing.
"I bet you are!" she said then threw a fork full of pasta at him. Brian then threw food across the table at Cassie which made her jump up.
"Brian!" Angela yelled. "What are you doing?!?"
"Hey, if there is going to be a food fight why should I not be involved in it? You know me. I always have to have some kind of excitement every time I go out. This would be the excitement for this occasion." Everyone started getting into a food fight except for Angela who sat back in her chair in embarassment until the manager of the restaurant approached them.
"I'm sorry, but I'm going to ask you to pay your bill and leave," he said.
"We're sorry too," Kevin said and then handed him some money. "Here's the money for our meals and extra for the mess that we made. It won't happen again."
"I'm sure it won't," the manager said then walked away. They began walking out of the restaurant and Nick put his arm around Kristen's shoulders then handed her his car keys.
"Why are you giving me the keys?" Kristen asked.
"Cause I'm going to let you drive back to your place," Nick said.
"You are?"
"Yeah just please don't let me regret it," he said joking around.
"Very funny, Carter."
"Whoa hold on a sec," Cassie said. "You're going to let her drive your car?"
"Yeah, why?" Nick asked.
"Let's just say that the last time that I let her drive my car we ended up in her neighbor's front lawn and barely missed hitting the fire hydrant."
"That was when I was fifteen! I didn't even have a license then!" Kristen said.
"It was still the last time you drove my car." Nick went to take his keys back from Kristen when she jerked them away and ran and hopped into the driver's seat of his car. Nick hesitantly got in the passenger's side. Everyone else decided not to ride with Kristen. They started pulling away and Nick was clutching on to the door handle.
"Chill out, Nick. I'm not going to kill you or your car," Kristen said.
"I didn't say a word."
"No, but you're clutching on for dear life. That was almost 4 years ago. I've had a lot of driving experience since then."
"I trust you," Nick said forcing a smile which made Kristen start laughing. "What's so funny?"
"You are obsessed with your car!"
"No, I just happen to really like this car and I want to actuall own it for at least 5 years."
"Okay, sure." They got to their place and found Angela and Brian kissing at the front door. Kristen saw Cassie standing there watching. "You okay?"
"No, he's so hot! Why does he have to be going out with Angie?" Cassie asked.
"Because they love each other."
"Well I love him too."
"You're in love with his looks. There's more to love than what a person looks like." Kristen said. Brian and Angela separated and Angela went inside followed by Cassie leaving Kristen and Nick alone outside. Nick began walking Kristen to the front door.
"You only base a person on the inside and not on the outside no matter if they are cute or not?" Nick asked.
"Yeah of course. Why do you ask?" Kristen asked.
"No reason but I better get going. I'll see you tomorrow maybe."
"Alright, bye."
"Bye," Nick said then gave Kristen a peck on the lips and walked away. Kristen stood there for a second smiling about Nick's lips meeting hers even if it only was for a second before she finally went inside.
