A guided tour of Ostrava! According to the 'Lonely Planet Guide', the only reason a tourist would go to Ostrava is because the train to Poland goes that way...  We found the place very welcoming though. The Czechs will do anything to make a travelling Aussie feel at home, but sharks in Central Europe? The Dvorak building, named after the music-writer guy, you know, the Fella that wrote that 'New World Symphony' thing... A world class tune by a world class Czech! A memorial to the great plagues of 1625 and 1715. It disappeared when the Russians came, but was found in some-one's front garden after they left... In 1945, the Nazis mined this bridge to prevent the Russians crossing it, but the explosives were diffused in time to save the townsfolk from being cut off. The czech hero lost his life for his heroism. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 Not quite St. Vitus Cathedral of Prague, but yes, Ostrava does have a cathedral!
Click the ticket to take it to the top and see Ostrava as a pigeon would from the town hall tower. Don't worry, the tower doesn't sway as much since the extensive reinforcing! Or go Back...

We weren't warned about Czech marine life, as its landlocked!

Zraloci is apparently the czech word for shark... its obviously not a word swimming czech would want to be calling out! It's a mouthful.. much like our swimming czech would be before he got it all out!

Hanging out on the bridge over the Ostravice.
