Chapter 29: 2nd Spring Trip - On the Way to Denver

A lot has gone on for me after the presentations. On the 19th, my dad and I went to Laramie to the University of Wyoming so I could get my hearing tested and talk with the audiologist about the new hearing aid. On the 28th, my mom, Riece, and I went to Sheridan to attend cousin Jenny's graduation, which I videotaped. While we were in Sheridan, I went to the cemetary with my grandparents and aunt Brenda to put flowers on our deceased relatives' graves.

Now it was May 31, the day the middle school class was going to Denver for the annual spring trip. We had to be at school by 6:45 A.M, and I only had half an hour to get ready since I woke up at 6:15. My mom thought I was suppose to be at school by 7:45, but she was wrong! I had a quick shower while mom made my lunch. I quickly finished my packing, and got my shoes and socks on. I then grabbed my jacket, lunch, backpack, and bag and ran across to the Hanson house and met Zac and Walker. We got in the van and drove to the school. Mrs. Grooms had already gave out the car assignments, but the rest of Crazy 8 told us who we were riding with. The 9 of us were with Walker in the huge white van.

At 7, everyone in the class got into their assigned vehicles, and we left the school parking lot and were on our way to Denver. We stopped at a rest area just outside Ft. Collins. The 9 of us ate our lunch together. My mom had packed me a peatnut butter and honey sandwich, but there was too much peanutbutter, 2 apples, 2 Dr. Peppers, 2 go-gurts, candy, and carrots. I ate part of my sandwich, a bit of an apple, some of the cherry go-gurt, and drank some Dr. Pepper. I gave Megan Clouse my other go-gurt and apple. I threw away the rest of my sandwich and carrots.

"So you don't like it when you mom packs your lunches eh?"Zac asked me.

"Duh Zac! She puts too much peanut butter on my sandwich. I never eat the carrots. The go-gurts I didn't really want in my lunch. The only thing I like in my lunch today is the Dr. Peppers and the butterfinger Nest Eggs!"I complained to Zac.

"Hey! Don't complain about your lunch to me. Complain about it to your mom! If ya want, I can give you some of my lunch too. I'm not gonna eat it all. Want a brownie or a cookie?"Zac said.

"Ooo. Cookies. What kind?"I said with a weird voice.

"Chocolate chips of course!"Zac said with a Brittish accent, making me laugh.

"I'll take the cookies Zaccers."

"Ok. Here ya go Meggers,"and Zac gave me his cookies.

About an hour later, we got into the van and drove to Denver. In the way back sat Zac in the middle, me on one side of him, and Bill on the other side. Jenny, Amanda, and Elizabeth sat in the 2nd to back seats. Nathan, John, and Tim sat in the seats that were close to the front. Nate's dad sat in the passenger seat in the front, and Walker drove. We all chatted, listened to music, read, and played some car games. We arrieved in Denver and went straight to the Denver Zoo. Walker found a spot to park and we got ut of the van.
