After recess was Dear or Read aloud time. Everybody was able to read on their own today. I told Zac what to do. We read a book or magazine for 35 minutes. After the Band or orchestra people came back to class, we did some english work together. Then we did debriefing, getting our homework assignments. After that was done, it was indepence work time. Mrs Grooms had to talk to Zac about his project. She just wanted to know what he was interested in do for a project. He decided he wanted to do a project on playing the drums. He could find some information about the drums, bring in some of his drum notes, and he might play his drums in May when we prsent our projects. Then Zac decided to work on that. I decided to work on my spinal meningitis project.
"So you're going to do a project on drums. I'm doind a project on spinal meningitis,"I said to Zac when we were in the media center.
"Spinal meningitis? What's that?"Zac asked.
"Just a very bad illness, especially the bacterial kind. The doctors have treatments for the bacterial meningitis, but not for the viral meningitis,"I answered.
"Why are doing a project on meningitis for anyway,"Zac asked.
"I just want to know more about it. I want to know how it affects people, like how it makes them deaf, blind, or even die. I also want to know why most people with the illness lose their balence. I've had it myself when I was 2. That's why I'm deaf now,"I said.
"You had the disease! I never knew anybody with that kind of serious illness,"Zac said.
"I nearly died from it. But I'm glad I didn't. If I did die, I would have never heard of your music."
"You really do like our music, don't you."
"Yep. Just ask my sister. She would say that I'm insane about you guys. I'm always listening to your music just about everyday, and watch the tour videos almost everyday. Don't talk to my sister though. She used to be a fan in the summer of 1997, but after I became 12, she just started hating the music,"I said.
"You watch our videos almost everyday! You are really into our music and videos,"Zac said, surprised.
We kept chatting and working on our projects. Jo came by to get to know Zac a bit.
"Zac, this is Jo. Everybody calls her Ms Jo though. She is another interpreter for Megan and me,"I said.
"Nice to meet you Jo. I'm Zac. You might have heard of our band,"Zac said.
"Of course I did. I've never heard of your music, but Meghan's metioned Hanson a few times. She even showed me her website about you and your brothers,"Jo said.
"You should see the website my brothers and I made. It's called Hansonline, and of course, it's an offical Hanson site on the net,"Zac said.
"That sounds interesting. I'll let you guys get back to your work now. Meghan, have you seen Megan,"Jo said.
"Donna's working with her now. I don't know where they went,"I said.
Jo left. Zac and I got back to our projects and we still chatted.
