The next day, July 8, we were just getting ready to go on our road trip. Everyone were running around the house. We made sure we had our stuff packed. I had everything packed up, and I decided to leave behind the blades. My cousins were going to bring their dog on the trip, and I was bringing Little with me. I picked up my backpack and my bag full of clothes, and went out to Grandma's new car. Grandpa was in the garage already, with the trunk open. I gave him my bag and he put it in the trunk. I proceded to put my backpack in the backseat.
Grandma gathered up some maps, coolers, some snacky stuff, and some other stuff. I picked up Little and carried her around. The Hanson's already had their rented car loaded and ready to go. Kevin had his van loaded and ready to go, and so did Clinton. He was going to drive Grandpa's red Fords explorer. Grandma, Grandpa, Emily, and I got into the new car. Clinton, Chris, and Brenda got into the Fords. The rest of my cousins, Marcia, and Kevin got in their van, the Hansons in their rented car. We then left the neighbor, and went to a gas station.
Almost everyone did go inside the gas station to get drinks, and even more snacky stuff. I got me some Dr. Pepper in a bottle, and a bottled water. Grandma wanted everyone to have some water on the trip too. Once the cars were filled and everyone had gotten whatever they wanted, we were on our way to Gulfport, Mississippi!
We stopped in Gillette and Newcastle, Wyoming; Rapid City and Murdo, S. Dakota , and spent the night in Murdo. We found a hotel to stay in, and figured out the rooming assignments. It was decided we would get 6 rooms. Kevin, Marcia, Matthew, and Sara in one; Clinton and Chris in one; Grandma, Grandpa, and Emily in another; and Brenda, Katie, and me in another room. Walker and Ike shared one while Tay and Zac shared another. We slept all night, and met in the lounge in the morning, where we packed up all the vehicles and had a quick breakfast. Then we were on our way again!
