GREEK NEW TESTAMENT - Intro

THE GREEK NEW TESTAMENT Westcott-Hort text from 1881, combined with the NA26/27 variants

The Bible Societies do not allow the free presentation of the NA26 GNT on the internet. For this reason we present here a public domain GNT version which includes all NA26 variants in an apparatus.

This text was prepared, typed and proof-read by Maurice A. Robinson. He says: "NO text of the Bible should ever be copyrighted or its distribution restricted or licensed in any manner whatsoever."

Jesus said: "Stop making my Father's house a marketplace!" (John 2:16)

Paul said: "For we are not peddlers of God's word like so many..."(2 Cor 2:17)

We couldn't be in more agreement with the preparer of the text contained in the pages to follow. It is our belief that when we completely surrender our opinion and knowledge to those who seek to control spiritual information, be it from the pulpit, in the sunday school classroom or the home, whether they be clergy or layfolk; in person or remote using radio, television, print, or internet media, that we end up ultimately losing the freedom bought for us by the precious blood of our Savior. There are many who sneak in to spy on the freedom which we have in Christ, just as Paul noted to the first church. There is no person or group of people who have the right or ability to be able to tell you carte blanche what you shall believe EXCEPT THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST, HEAD OF THE ONE AND ONLY CHURCH WHICH IS HIS BRIDE.

This is not presented because we believe there is anything "wrong", per se, with English translations. In fact, we have quite the opposite opinion! However, having said that, it is also true that Koine Greek is the language in which the first century church read the Apostles Teaching and the Gospels; not in Latin, or English. It is our opinion that the only exception to this in regard to the language which the human authors used, is the Gospel of Matthew; which we are convinced was written in the Hebraic tongue originally and then translated by Matthew or someone else later into Greek. We are also convinced that it was the first Gospel penned; this is not a new opinion/teaching but it came into disfavor among the "experts" especially in the last century or so. Sometimes the passage of time does not improve our understanding of things, and this axiom is quite familiar to us who experience such in understanding our own lives. We will be providing information as to why we are convinced of this, about Matthew's Gospel, later. It is not the kind of thing which we make much ado about, if you have questions or comments please contact us via email. We are sure that much silliness, wasted resources and division within the Body of Christ has occured because of opinions about secondary or tertiary matters and are hoping that we ourselves are not responsible for causing any such disturbance within the Kingdom ourselves, by what we do or say. We pray we have been realistic to date and that we by God's grace continue to examine ourselves to see if we remain in the faith, as once delivered unto the saints; and we pray that you are doing such as well.

So, in the same kind as the words which Augustine heard coming from the neighborhood, we also proclaim -- 'Take it up and read!'
