LONDON (Reuters) - The Queen Mother is in some pain but
recovering well after breaking her collar bone in a fall this week,
her daughter Queen Elizabeth was quoted as saying.
"She is doing well, but it is painful," the queen said during a tour
of a hospital in Windsor near London.
Newspapers said the queen stopped to speak to a four-year-old boy, who was sporting
a broken arm in a plaster cast, and told him: "My mother has a sling as well."
The Queen Mother, aged 100, broke her collar bone after a fall last Friday at Clarence
House, her central London residence. The fall was her second within a week, sparking
fresh concern for the health of the nation's favourite grandmother.
A few days earlier, she tripped over the hem of her evening gown as she was getting into a car after a dinner.
The Queen Mother has cancelled all engagements until her health improves.
The popular royal has weathered several health problems in recent years but has generally remained in good form.
She walks with two sticks after two hip replacements, though she may have to revert to the use of a golf buggy to
get around until she has recovered.
Royal experts said she would be furious at her injury and anxious to get out and about quickly.
The diminutive Queen Mother -- a widow for half her life -- is known as a dignified but fun-loving character who
enjoys horse racing, fashion and a glass of gin.
