The Characters

Mulan
Mulan is the main character of this story. (No duh, her name is the title) She is a very spirited and lively girl, who is determined to bring her family honor. Yet her irrepressable personality conflicts with the traditional Chinese views of how a girl should behave (calm, obediant, works fast paced). So, in other words, she doesn't quite fit in. Not to mention blows it sky-high at her meeting with the matchmaker, thus "earning" her family a somewhat dishonorable appearance.
But as much as she wants to impress the world, love for her family still comes first. Mulan's love for her father is lies so deeply that she will trade her life for her father's safety any day, without a doubt. Loyal, kind, honest, caring, clever, topped off with a unique sense of humor, Mulan is no doubt the one of THE best heroines of all time.

Mulan's Alter Ego: Ping
Ping is Mulan's soldier disguise. When you look at her/him as a man...well, she doesn't really do a good job of acting, huh? But for a woman (whistles), she does have a lot of potential muscle, doesn't she?

Mushu
This fiesty miniature dragon named Mushu takes the role of Mulan's "guardian". (Mulan's ancestors supposedly sent him, but actually, he was only sent to wake up the real guardian dragon, but instead, by a freak accident, Mushu ends up de-structure-izing the GreatStoneDragon, so he decides to go protect Mulan himself to earn himself some credit.) Throughout the movie, Mushu poses as the comedian, the source of laughs, the wise-cracking, fast-talkin', hyper active, bouncing-off-the- walls egomaniac natural clown of a undersized guardian dragon. His big mouth (literally, too) constantly dunks Mulan in hot water, but Mushu uses the advantage of his "big mouth" to pull Mulan out, too. (i.e."I ain't bitin' no more butts!") To sum it up, this guy is just plain funny, funny, etc.!

Shang
Shang is the Prince Charming of this movie. (I'm beginning to sense a pattern here...) As newly appointed captain (of the recruits: Ping, Ling, Yao, Chien-Po, etc.) Shang takes his job seriously. "Number one in his class, extensive knowledge of training techniques, an impressive military lineage..." He puts the souldiers through tough training, transforming the recruits into disciplined warriors. Something he has lots of is muscle. But not the overwhelmingly gross, bulging, pro-weight lifter kind. Just enough to seem intimidating. Courageous, strong, clever, he can be counted on to be a great captain.

Gang of Three
Ling---He's the other skinny, comical egomaniac.(aside from Mushu) He thinks the world absolutely adores him. (Which is partly true, considering I have this friend...*heehee!*)
Yao---The squat, stocky, "manly", tough guy with the black eye
Chien Po---The peace loving, gentle, yet overwhelmingly strong Buddhist (izzat right?) who has an alarmingly huge cell surplus. (i.e. fat)

The Villian: Shan Yu
Fearless, reckless, merciless, ruthless (a lotta "less's") all perfectly fit the immense , sturdily built Hun leader. He has fierce, gleaming eyes, a wicked complexion, and a silky voice choked with hidden thunder. His constant companian is a falcon who plays the part of a trusty spy. (Spy...right?)

Minor Characters

Cri-Kee
Cri-kee, the cricket, is the cute, lively little sidekick of Mushu's that can type. Chirp!

Khan
Mulan's loyal, intelligent black horse. Gender unknown, though I suspect that Khan may be a stallion (male).

Fa Zhou
Mulan's caring, sensitive, sensible, wise father, who always wants the best for his daughter.

Fa Li
The mom. Caring, kind, etc, etc.

Matchmaker
The fat, short-tempered, imaptient, indignamt, ugly excuse for a decent female soul. She seves as the villiage matchmaker, and made a fool out of Mulan. (Or the other way around, however you wanna look at it)

Little Brother
Mulan's lovable white puppy with bunny-like ears.

The Guy Showing Off His Dragon Tattoo
Fat.

Did I forget anyone? Let me know!
