Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) is the only American style "bank" located on any of our local bases. NFCU has a branch and two 24 hour ATM machines at Agnano and one ATM at Capodichino. The banks lobby hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. NFCU also offers on-line access to your account at www.navyfcu.org . I highly recommend the use of this service, though there is a one-time registration form to be completed via the Internet. You are able to check all balances of any NFCU account 24 hours a day, transfer funds between NFCU accounts, see all statements, and verify pay amounts. We switched all of our accounts to NFCU several years ago and have been very happy with them. NFCU offers, savings & interest-bearing share draft accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA), consumer loans, share draft line of credit, travelers checks, and a no-fee VISA card.

Check cashing and currency exchange are available at PSD, and AFSouth (NATO). A spouse must have a special power of attorney on file with PSD to cash checks. NFCU does not perform currency exchange.

There are three "cambios" (currency exchange), two at Agnano and one at Capodichino.

There is an Italian bank on base, Banca di Commit. This bank will change currency, accept payment of utility bills, and set up savings accounts, and "secured type" Italian credit cards for American personnel. Their lire exchange rate at times can be competitive with PSD.
