ALWAYS AND FOREVER
Chapter Twenty

For their wedding night, Jack and Rose went to the Residence Inn.

The next day, they would be leaving for Santa Monica.

They were now at Antonio's, an Italian restaurant in Eau Claire.

Molly, Ruth, Liz, Brian, Tommy, Fabrizio, Oscar, and Mina were now sitting at the long table, waiting for the newlyweds to arrive.

Jack and Rose were in the white carriage, on their way to Antonio's.

"I love you, Jack," Rose said.

She had her head on Jack's shoulder, and he had his arms around her.

"I love you, too, Rose," he said.

"I can't believe we're married, Jack. It feels as though just yesterday we were at the steerage party, or on the bow of Titanic," she said.

"I know, Rose. I will never forget those days. Well, I could forget the conversation in the gym," he teased.

Rose giggled. "Sorry about that."

"Well, I don't think you meant it."

"I married you. I saved you from drowning," she said. Then, she whispered in a serious tone, "I love you."

He then kissed her, with all the passion in him.

She returned the kiss, with just as much passion.

"All right. Now I know you mean it!" he joked.

She smiled and giggled softly, and then rested her head on his shoulder.

In a short amount of time, they were at Antonio's.

"Ah ha...here's the happy couple!" Oscar exclaimed, as he went to hug Jack and Rose.

So they ate dinner, and talked about old memories.

Rose had gotten unusually quiet.

She was thinking about her father. Oh, how she wished he was there, and at the wedding.

Daddy, I've married for love. That's what you wanted, wasn't it? I love you, Daddy, and I miss you, Rose thought.

Rose also thought of Mr. Thomas Andrews.

Since her father died, he was like a father figure to her.

Jack gently took Rose's hand. "Rose, are you all right? Having any doubts?" he asked, half-jokingly, half-serious.

"No, dear, I'm fine. I was just thinking of my father, and Mr. Andrews. That's all," she said.

"All right, love. Do you want to go now?" he asked.

"It's up to you. I really don't mind, either way."

"Well, let's go. I want to show you something, before I forget."

"Um...all right, then," she said.

"Excuse us. We shall be leaving now," Jack said to everyone.

They gave their good-byes and headed out the door, hand in hand.

They got into the carriage.

They got about halfway down the street, when Jack decided to show Rose what he wanted to show her at the restaurant.

Without a word, he gingerly grasped Rose's left hand, and took off her wedding ring.

Her ring was gold, with diamonds circling it.

"But--Jack..." she tried to get out, but Jack put his finger on her lips.

Then he whispered, "Look inside, my love."

But he dropped it.

"Hey, Stuart, please stop the carriage," Jack said, to the driver.

Jack was standing, and the carriage came to a shaky halt, knocking Jack over.

Rose burst out laughing. "Jack--are...are you...all right?" she asked, between giggles.

"Ow! I hit my head."

Rose was still laughing, but managed to control it.

"Oh, you poor baby. Come here," she said.

He came to her, and she kissed his head.

"That's taken care of. But look for the ring!" she said.

He found it, and she read what was inside.

It read:

Never let go, Rose.
July 5, 1912.

Rose's eyes were filled with tears of joy.

"Jack, if I haven't let go yet, I'll never let go," she said.

"I love you so much, Rose," Jack said, as he kissed her tears.

One of the tears was at her chin, and after he kissed that one, he lifted his head to meet her gaze, and they kissed passionately.

They got to the hotel, and paid the driver.

They brought their stuff in.

"Rose, do you want your wedding gift now?" he asked.

"Sure, honey."

He handed her a neatly wrapped box.

She untied it, to find a lavender jewelry box, with flowers engraved at the bottom, and at the top, it said:

Come Josephine in my flying machine...

"Jack, you shouldn't..." she tried to say, but again, he put his finger to her mouth.

"Just open it," he said.

She opened the box, to hear the lovely tune of Come Josephine In My Flying Machine, and to see a shiny golden locket, with a diamond trim.

"Jack...it's...it's beautiful," she managed to say.

"It can't even be compared to your beauty," he said.

She couldn't help it any longer. She kissed him passionately.

"What was that for?" he asked.

"Because you make me feel like the most important person in the world," she said.

"Well, in my eyes, you are."

She blushed, and he kissed her cheek.

"Now it's time for your present, Mr. Dawson," she said.

She handed him a black velvet box. He opened it to find a pocket watch.

"Open it," she said, before he could get one word out.

She had cut a piece of paper into a circle, and put it in there, so when he opened it, it read...
