ALWAYS AND FOREVER
Chapter Thirty-One

Later on April 15, 1913

Josephine and Elizabeth were asleep in their cribs.

Jack and Rose were on their bed, lying down and talking.

"Rose, how do you feel?" Jack asked.

"I'm so happy. It was painful, but they were worth it," she replied.

Just then, Cora came into the room.

"Mommy? Are you okay? Do you need anything?" Cora asked. Rose smiled.

"No, dear. I'm fine." She and Cora hugged.

"All right, Mommy. Can I go to Samantha's house, then?"

Jack and Rose looked at each other.

"Um...sure. Go get ready, and I'll take you over there," Jack said.

Rose looked at him and started laughing.

"I know, Rose, I know. I said I was sorry," he said.

"I know, honey." She kissed him.

"Will you bring me the twins before you leave?" she asked.

"Yeah."

He left the room to get the twins.

He came back in a few minutes later and handed Lizzie to Rose.

"Here's Lizzie," he said.

"They're so adorable," Rose said.

"Yep. They have the best features of both of us."

"Daddy? Can we please go?" Cora asked, walking into the room.

"Yeah. Let's go," he said, giving Josephine to Rose.

Cora started to drag him out of the room.

"Yay! Bye, Mommy!"

"Bye. Have fun, darling."

While Jack was gone, his mom came to the house and took care of Rose and the twins.

Rose and Liz were now in the living room, talking.

Liz didn't want Rose to go downstairs, but Rose insisted that she was fine.

"Oh! I need to write a letter to Molly and my mother!"

"All right, Rose. Will you be all right by yourself? I need to cook dinner for Brian and I. You need to make Jack cook tonight."

"I'll be fine. And I'm sure he will. Thanks, Liz. Bye."

"Bye, dear."

They hugged.

Liz left.

Rose decided to call her mother.

"Hello. Is Ruth there? This is her daughter, Rose...hello, Mother. How are you? I'm fantastic...can you and Molly come over here as soon as possible? Because you're a grandmother of two baby girls...yes...okay...hey, Molly. You're a godmother...yep. You will? All right. I have to go. The babies are crying...bye."

Jack walked into the house.

"Hey, honey," Rose said.

"Rose, what are you doing up?"

"What? No hello for me?" she asked.

He smiled and kissed her.

"I was just going to check on the babies, but you happened to walk in the door."

"Well, then, let's go up there together."

"Okay...Molly and Mother are coming up here on the twenty-eighth of April."

"All right, then..." he said, as they walked into the nursery.

Jack made a wonderful dinner for Rose, and they went to bed early that night, where they had visions of the future.
