The next morning Cora woke up rather early. She felt lonely and decided to get Rose out of bed.
She walked into the other room quietly and shook Rose. "Rosie? Rosie?" Cora talked quietly.
"Hmm?" Rose mumbled.
"Can we go walk around the ship, please?"
"Yes of course, just let me get ready. You need to take a bath and get ready also, dear," said Rose. She liked having Cora around. She felt like a mom already.
"Okay," Cora said, leaving to do as told.
Soon after they where ready Ruth was knocking on the door.
"Hold on. Hold on," Rose said as she was walking to the door. She opened it and her mother greeted her with a hug and then saw Cora at the table eating breakfast.
Ruth walked over to her and said, "Well hello darling, my name is Ruth. What's yours?"
"Hi. My name is Cora. My daddy died so Jack and Rose are letting me stay with them," Cora answered, smiling at the lady who claimed to be Ruth.
"Oh, well, in that case you can call me Ruthie," Ruth said with a smile.
Rose was stunned at how much her mother had changed over the past forty-eight hours. And she had never heard anyone call her Ruthie since her Father. Her parents loved each other but they weren't exactly in love. They were constantly arguing and were always stressed.
"Well, Mother, I do believe we need to talk," said Rose, cocking her head to the settee--which looked a lot like the one on the Titanic--so they could talk there. Ruth turned her attention to her daughter.
"Rose? What about? Is something wrong?" Ruth asked and sat at the settee with Rose.
"Oh no, Mother, it's just that Jack and I are engaged."
"Rose that's wonderful! I am so happy for you two! Where is the lucky fellow anyway?" Ruth smiled.
Rose beamed. "He is still asleep. I figured I shouldn't wake him since we had such a long and miserable day yesterday."
"Oh, yes, dear your right," Ruth said quietly.
"Mother, Jack doesn't know this yet, but...don't get mad OK?" Rose hesitated.
"I won't get mad, Rose, you can tell me."
"Well Mother, I...I may be pregnant. If I am, it's not Cal's. Cal and I have never been intimate. It'll definitely be Jack's," she said calmly but her mothers response shocked her, she had thought that her mother would have a nervous break down.
Ruth was calm, but disappointed in her young daughter. "Rose, I wish you wouldn't have done that, but I can't do anything about it. So, that's your choice. I wish you would've got married first."
"Who are you and what did you do with my mother?" Rose asked with shocked eyes.
Ruth smiled. She knew she had changed. The sinking had changed her completely. It made her realize how much love meant. And she also realized that Jack Dawson and her daughter were madly in love. "Rose, seeing you say good-bye to me while the ship was sinking...it made me think. It made me think about a lot of things. And I realized how much you love Jack and how much you despise Cal."
Rose was glad her mother finally realized how much she loved Jack Dawson. "Oh mother! Thank you for allowing me to be with Jack!" Rose said, wrapping her arms around her mother's neck. "You're welcome, Rose."
Rose smiled and said, "Would you like to walk around the ship with Cora and me?"
"Sure, can Molly come too?" Ruth asked.
Rose nodded and said, "I need to write Jack a note so he won't go mad when he wakes up."

Jack woke up by someone knocking on the door. He rolled over on a note on Rose's pillow, not wanting to wake up just yet. All he wanted to do was hold Rose but he found that she had left. He picked up the note. It read:
My dearest Jack,
Mother, Molly, Cora and I went for a walk. We'll be back soon.
Oh and by the way we need to talk while Mother takes care of Cora tonight. I love you. Always and forever.
Love,
Rose
He opened the door, not knowing if Rose had brought her key or not. He was shocked at who was smiling wickedly behind the door.
Lovejoy...
