ALWAYS AND FOREVER
Chapter Forty-Three

January 6, 1915

"Happy birthday, Dad," Jack said, walking into his parents' house with his family.

"Thanks, son," Brian said, and lifted Cora into his arms.

"How old are you now, Pawpaw?" Cora asked.

"Fifty...I'm old, huh?"

"Yeah," she said, and they all laughed.

They all sat around the table for lunch.

"Mom, Dad, we are going to move to Santa Monica after Cora's birthday next month," Jack said.

"Why are you moving? Getting sick of us?" Liz asked.

Jack and Rose shared a laugh. "No, Liz. We just want to move there for a few years, and then come back," Rose said.

"Oh...well, I guess I'm happy for you. Now, can I hold my grandson?"

"Sure."

Liz took four-month-old Alexander.

"He looks so much like his father at that age," Liz said.

"Yes, he does," Brian said.

"Next week we're going to go to Santa Monica to look for a house. Will you watch the children? We're bringing Alexander, of course."

"Sure."

"Thank you. My mother may come by to see the children also," Rose said.

"All right."
