ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ON EARTH
Chapter Ten

Jack was running as fast as he could. He was running to Rose and she to him. Then Cal caught Rose and handcuffed Jack to a pole.

He called out Rose's name and then woke up.

"What? Huh? Oh," he said. "Rose…Rose, where did we put the handcuffs?"

Rose was half-asleep, but heard him and replied, "Second drawer on the right."

Jack got up and opened the drawer to see the cuffs that Rose had chopped apart, the cuffs he had almost died in, the cuffs that had been removed after he had boarded the Carpathia.

Taylor was crying, so Jack went and picked her up, singing her their song. "Come Josephine in my flying machine, going up she goes, up she goes," he sang. At that, she fell asleep.

Jack put her back in the crib, got the cuffs, and threw them out the window and into the snow.

Nicole was having a bad dream, and John complained, "She's getting on my nerves."

Jack picked up John. Rose got Nicole and sang her a lullaby. Jack brought John out to the couch and then got Taylor. Rose brought Nicole out and the parents sang them all a lullaby. The kids fell asleep on their laps and Jack and Rose fell asleep on the couch.
