A LOVE WE CAN ONLY DREAM OF
Chapter Four
The next morning, Rose found herself lying on
Jack's chest. His arms were wrapped tightly around her, and she felt so safe.
When Jack awoke, he saw Rose was gently stroking her fingers through his hair.
He greeted her with a sweet kiss.
"Jack?"
"Yeah, Rose?"
"To be quite honest with you, Jack, I
didn't want to come on this ship, because I knew once I got to New York I would
be marrying Cal. I wanted to stay in England, for that matter. But as you can
see, my mother forced me. Now I'm glad she did force me, because I've found
you, Jack. This is the first time I have really experienced true love. I have
never felt this way toward any man I've known, and I want it to last forever, because
I love you with every piece of my heart." Jack smiled, leaned forward, and
gave her a kiss.
"Rose, I've been to many places in this
big world, and I've known a lot of girls, but never truly have I fallen in
love...until now, that is. I truthfully say you are my first love, and I love
you, Rose, more than you'll ever know."
She smiled at him, and lay her head back on
his chest. He wrapped his arms back around her, and they fell asleep.
Jack and Rose awoke to hear someone busting
through their door. Rose sat up, and knew exactly who it was.
"Jack! It's Cal!" she screamed, as
they jumped out of bed and hurried to put their clothes on. Just as Jack got
his pants on, Cal burst through door. Without thinking, he went right over to
Jack and punched him in the jaw.
"Cal! You bastard! Why in the hell did
you do that?"
"Oh, Rose, I known you've fallen for
him! But it's not going to happen, so I suggest you stop loving him right
now!"
"Are you stupid, Cal? I can’t just stop
loving him because you tell me to! It's not that simple! And, besides, it's
never going to happen! I love Jack Dawson, and I don't care what you or Mother
may think of me! If I didn't love him, we wouldn't have made love last night!
That says everything, Cal! I love him!"
