CAL'S LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE
Chapter One
Cal walked into the sitting room of their
hotel suite.
"Rose, we are going out shopping for
your wedding dress. Afterwards, we are going to the best restaurant in town. I
have to pick up your mother. I want you to be ready when I get back," he
said, walking out the door.
Rose sat there for a while before deciding to
go for a short walk. "I am going for a short walk," she told Trudy.
"Fine. I will lay out your things for a
bath. What dress would you like to wear?"
"My black one."
"Okay," Trudy replied, walking to
the closet and taking Rose's new black dress from its hanger.
"Thank you, Trudy. I will be back
soon."
*****
Rose sat down on a park bench and sighed.
A young man sat down next to her. "What
is wrong?"
"I am about to get married, to someone I
don't like."
"Why are you marrying him, then?"
Rose looked down, and replied, "I was
forced to get engaged to him by my mother."
"Maybe your mother should marry him,
then."
Rose smiled, and said, "I’d better get
back to the hotel."
"Before you go, what is your name?"
"Rose DeWitt Bukater."
"Nice to meet you, Rose. My name is Jack
Dawson."
"Nice to meet you, too, Jack. I’d better
get back, before Cal does."
"Bye. I hope to see you again."
"I hope to see you again, too."
"Rose, what are you doing here?"
Cal yelled, as he walked towards her. He grabbed her by the arm and dragged her
to the car.
Jack watched, helpless, as Cal pushed Rose
into the front seat and sped off.
*****
"Cal, slow down. Someone could get
killed," Rose said.
"I thought I told you to be ready when I
got back."
"Cal, I only went for a short
walk."
Cal took his eyes off the road and turned to
Rose. "I don't want you do to this again. Is that clear?"
"Yes."
"Good."
"Cal, look out!" Rose yelled, as
another car was about to crash into them.
Cal tried to avoid the crash, but it was too
late. The cars hit head-on, sending Cal's car out of control. The car flipped
five times before landing upside down. Both Cal and Rose were knocked
unconscious.
*****
Five hours later, Rose woke up in the hospital.
Her mother was standing by her bed.
"Is Cal alive?"
"Yes, but he is in a deep coma. He was
thrown from the car, and landed twenty feet away. He may not live through the
night."
Rose prayed that Cal would live. Although she
did not care for him, she did not wish for his death, either.
