CAL’S LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE
Chapter Ten
Lucy was packing when she heard
shouting downstairs.
"What is going on?" she
asked, walking into the kitchen.
She gasped in shock when she saw
that Nathan had a young maid pinned against the wall.
She tried to help the maid, but
Nathan pushed her, causing her to lose her balance and hit her head on the edge
of the table.
She was knocked unconscious by
the blow to the head.
Nathan did not try to help her.
Instead, he stepped around her and went upstairs.
The young maid called for a
doctor. She then called the police.
Lucy was still unconscious when
the doctor arrived twenty minutes later.
"How did it happen ?"
the doctor asked, carefully picking Lucy up and carrying her upstairs.
"Mr. Hockley pushed her when
she tried to help me."
The doctor nodded.
A few minutes later, the police
arrived and went to arrest Nathan, who was just about to leave.
Nathan tried to claimed
self-defense.
"Tell it to the judge,"
a short cop said, leading Nathan to the paddy wagon.
Two Hours Later
Lucy finally regained
consciousness.
"What happened?"
"You had an accident,"
the young maid replied.
"Where is Nathan?"
"He is gone right now."
"Can you stay here for a
minute, Sandy?"
"All right," Sandy
said, sitting down in a chair.
"Thank you," Lucy said,
slipping back into unconsciousness.
Sandy hoped that Mrs. Hockley
would be all right, and that Mr. Hockley wouldn’t get away with it this time
like he had before.
