CAL'S LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE
Chapter Four
Cal's mother snapped her fingers again.
"Cal, this is the second of several
stops."
Cal just stood there in shock as he saw himself
as a little boy.
"Cal, let me see your report card,"
Nathan said.
Cal nervously handed his father his report
card.
"Cal, you are failing every subject. You
knows what happens?"
"Yes," Cal replied through tears.
That made Nathan more angry. He walked up to
Cal and started to beat him.
"Get up," he ordered.
Cal slowly got up and wiped his tears with
his sleeve.
Nathan grabbed Cal's arm, and said,
"Until you can learn how to act like a man, you will be locked in this
room."
With that, he pushed Cal in and locked the
door.
"Daddy, let me out!" Cal cried,
banging on the door.
Cal's mother turned to Cal, and asked,
"What do you think about that?"
"I can't believe I used to act like
that. Being locked in that room taught me to act like a man."
"Cal, you almost died in that
room."
"So? I am also in a coma, too,
right?"
Cal's mother sighed. There had to be a way to
get him to chang. She did not know what it was, but she would find it.
"Come on, Cal. There are still a couple
more stops."
*****
Jack visited Rose, carrying yet another bag
for her.
"Hi, Rose," he said, walking in.
Rose was reading one of her movie magazines.
She looked up, and replied, "Hi, Jack."
"I got you some more movie magazines and
two bottles of ginger ale. They are still cold."
Rose opened one and offered the other to
Jack, who took it and thanked her.
"So, any updates on Cal?"
"Yes. He is still alive, but he remains
in a deep coma."
"When will you be released?"
"By the end of this week."
"That's good."
"Yes. I can't wait to eat real
food."
*****
Cal's stepmother held his hand and tried to
get him to open his eyes.
"Cal, please open your eyes. I overheard
that Rose might be pregnant. They won't know for sure until they do some
tests."
Cal's eyes remained closed, but he was showing
signs of waking up.
