DO YOU ONLY WANNA DANCE?
Chapter Four
Rosa looked at him. This man was
unbelievable. He hardly knew her, yet he was willing to pay off her debt. Why?
Why did he need to date her? Was it because all he wanted was sex and nothing else?
She couldn't process the thought of him only wanting that. But rich men always
wanted that. So, she had to ask the awful question. "Why would a man like
yourself want me, Jack? I'm nothing special. Do you think you can buy me off
like some whore?"
"Rosa, don't get the wrong
idea. You’re not some whore on the street I am paying just to get you to sleep
with me. If that was the case, I would have slept with preppy Victoria, but I
didn't. Because I didn't want that kind of relationship. I want to share a
special relationship with you. If we ever do make love, it's going to be
special, because you will be my first."
"What? You’re a
virgin?" Rosa was in shock.
"Yes, and this is the first
time I have ever admitted it to someone." He wanted her to know she was
special to him.
"I don't know what to
say." She was speechless.
"Say yes and become my dance
partner, Rosa." He needed her to say yes.
"How can I refuse a once in
a lifetime offer from the most handsome man I ever met?" She touched his
cheek.
"You mean it?" His eyes
lit up.
"I do, Jack Dawson. I will
become your dance partner, and not just for the money, but because you believe
in me." She was happy. She hadn't felt this way in a long time.
"Do you want cash or a
check?" He didn't care about the money. All he needed was her.
"Cash." Rosa hated to
sound like she was using him just for the money, but she wasn't. It was a fair
trade, wasn't it?
"I am going to school here,
so after school I can go to the bank and give you the money." He would
stay true to his word.
"Okay. No problem. You’re
one in a million, Jack." She punched him in the shoulder.
"So are you, Rosa. Dance
lessons start tomorrow at four, so wear something comfortable, and I will see
you tomorrow." He turned to leave.
"All right. See you
there." She opened the gate to her apartment complex and stood there,
waiting for Jack to kiss her. When he didn't she stepped on the higher step,
grabbed him before he could leave, and kissed him.
He held her close to him as she
kissed him. He kissed her back, tasting her lips and feeling her hands touching
him. He moaned against her lips. He was ready to love her. He took a step back,
forcing himself not to be weak. He didn't want to make her any less
comfortable.
"Why did you pull
back?" Rosa looked into his eyes.
"I had to before I did
something you wouldn't like." He wondered if he had it in him to do that
to a woman. Take charge.
"Who said I wouldn't like
it?" Rosa teased.
"You’re playing with fire,
Rosa, and you’re on very thin ice. I can only take so much." He pleaded
with her not to force him to do something he had never done.
"Sorry for being a tease. In
time, I will show you how to love me in every way." She would, every step
of the way.
"I look forward to it, Rosa.
Good night." He turned to leave, and she didn't pull him back this time.
"Good night, Jack." She
closed her fence and walked to the door, opening it with her key. She saw Jack
leave and wished he was spending the night with her instead.
Jack whistled all the way back to
the hotel. He was happy and content. He hailed a cab and it took him back to
the hotel. When he got to his suite, his mom and dad were waiting for him.
"Glad to see you’re
back," his mom said as he stepped inside.
"Sorry. I forgot the
time." Jack yawned.
"We brought you some food.
It's in the sitting room. It's still warm." Martha wondered what he had
done this time.
"Thanks, Mom. But I think I
am gonna go to sleep. I just had a rough day," he lied. He had had a
wonderful day.
"All right. Good night,
son." Martha let him go and went to sit down.
"Good night, Dad, Mom,"
Jack said before heading to bed.
Ty turned to Martha. After all
the hard times Jack had put his mother through, he hadn't even bothered to call
her to tell her he was okay. He would have to have a chat with him sometime in
the near future. Wait! He had never called him Dad before. Something had
changed, definitely.

The next day, Jack got up for
school. He brushed back his hair, put on a white shirt and gray slacks, and
headed out of the suite with his dinner jacket. He wasn't looking forward to
going to a preppy rich school. He hated the fact that he would have to sit
there and wait for the teacher to start. He liked hands-on work better than
sitting all day and listening to a lecture. He wanted to practice on cadavers.
He was looking forward to it. He hailed a cab and sat back. "Truman
University, please."
"Yes, sir," the cabbie
said.
He was early. He looked at all
the potentials. Then he saw a familiar face. He tapped the girl's shoulder.
"Katie?"
"Jack Dawson. So nice to see
you." She smiled.
"I had no idea you were into
medicine." He smiled back at her.
"Me, either, but if I am
gonna be a nurse, I have to study, don't I?" She looked at him. She wasn't
attracted to him at all. He was a nice guy, just like Javier was.
"A nurse?" His eyes
opened wide.
"Yeah, Doctor," she
mocked him.
"Thanks, but I am not
licensed yet. I thought you would be a dance major or something in the
arts." He would have thought she was. Her dancing was spectacular.
"I would have, but since I
am staying here with my fiancé, we need all the financial support we can
get." She hadn't bothered to tell Javier the little secret she had been
keeping from him. They needed money and needed it very soon.
"And Javier is your fiancé?"
Jack interrupted her thoughts.
"Yes. We only met last year,
but we fell deeply in love." She remembered everything like it was
yesterday.
"Yep, Havana can do that to
you." Jack shrugged, thinking of Rosa.
"Ms. Miller, Mr. Dawson. I
would like to do today's lecture. Would you please take your seats?" the
professor interrupted them.
"Yeah, sure." Jack
looked at him and sat down.
The professor started blabbing,
saying everything Jack already knew. It was just a review of everything he had
learned in the states, so he didn't bother to take notes like he usually would.
He sat there listening. This was the only class he needed to become a licensed
doctor. His mind started to drift off to Rosa. In his notebook, he started
writing Rosa Dawson. He didn't know why she affected him so much. She just did.
After class, Katie walked with
Jack out the front gate. Javier was waiting for her. When he saw Jack with her,
he went completely insane, but didn't say a word to Katie about it.
"Katie, can I hold your
books for you?" Javier came to her side.
"Sure. Thank you, mi
amor." She handed them over and kissed his lips.
"De nada, bonita." He
kissed her back and took her hand.
Seeing Javier give him a weird
look, Jack backed off and told Katie he would see her later. She smiled at him
and left with Javier, back to their home. Jack headed in the opposite
direction, to the bank, just like he said he would.
