ESCAPE
Chapter Twenty-Eight
The Dawson wedding was a fairytale adventure
on the Santa Monica pier. It was a small ceremony, but the guests who were
invited all agreed that it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been
to.
In attendance were close friends, along with
Alice, her brother, Rich, Charles, all Rose’s friends from the bridge, Cal
along with his fiancée, Isabella Tallingsworth, with their two children, and
Ruth.
Jack was the happiest man alive that day in
his dark tux, loose-fitting shirt, and a black tie. Jacob and Jayvelin smiled
up at him from the front row, sitting next to Cal. He smiled back and turned
his eyes quickly away because now Rose was approaching him up the aisle. There
was no describing the beautiful goddess that was Rose on her wedding day.
They were married alongside the ocean, on a
warm beach with a magical breeze shifting around them. And after the guests had
long gone, taking Jacob and Jayvelin so the couple might start their honeymoon
early, the newly married pair sat down on the soft sand and looked out at the
deep turquoise ocean. They huddled together and, with their hands and bodies
intertwining, they stared out with contentment because neither one of them had
let anything stop them from being together; fate had tried to keep them apart
and failed.
Rose leaned slightly away from him and
murmured into the sea so softly that he couldn't hear. But, the faint breeze
caught the magical words. "I made each day count."
The End.
