ESCAPE: A JACK AND ROSE STORY
Chapter One

"Lizzie, time for breakfast," Jack said, knocking on her door.

"I'll be right there! Stop rushing me!" she yelled back.

He was getting sick of her. Sometimes, he wanted to slap her but he'd never do that to any woman. It just wasn't right. He'd heard of it happening before and he'd beat one man up for doing it to this one waitress.

"Fine." He said angrily, and walked off. He couldn't stand her! He just went to breakfast without her. And met with Molly Brown and Thomas Andrews.

Gabbie was laughing hysterically at Rose, playing peek-a-boo. Rose laughed along with her. The sun was setting now and it was absolutely gorgeous out on deck.

Rose had met a Norwegian woman, Helga, and her boyfriend, Fabrizio. Both were really kind to her. "So, where's Gabbie's father?" Helga asked.

Rose looked up. "He died."

"So you were only fifteen when you had her?"

"No...see she's my sister and I'm raising her because our parents died," Rose said, looking back at Gabbie.

"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that," Helga said, smiling sadly.

"It's all right. She calls me mommy and I don't mind. I love her like she's my own daughter. I just wish I could give her a father. Our mother never liked us, but Dad did," said Rose.

"I'm really sorry to hear that. My mother died when I was born and my dad remarried. Odd isn't it?" Helga asked.

"Not really...but to many people, I'm sure it is. So, what about you, Fabrizio? How are your parents?" Rose asked.

"My papa died a few years ago and my mama, she's'a sick. I can't be with her though. It kills me," he said in a deep Italian accent.

"I'm so sorry." Rose said.

"It's okay. I've had twenty long, good years with her. She was always kind. A really good person."

"That's good." He nodded and they carried on with their conversation.

Jack excused himself from the table. He was fed up with Elizabeth's rudeness. He was going to put an end to their engagement once and for all. He'd had enough. He walked onto the deck, heading for the railing. He looked down, towards steerage. A beautiful woman was down there. Red, curly hair, framing her angelic face. He'd thought he'd seen an angel. She looked like a flower in a beautiful garden.

She looked up at him, ignoring the Irishman, Tommy Ryan's, question. He was obviously staring at her. Or was he? She turned her head quickly but her eyes traced back to his. He smiled slightly. So did she, but she was interrupted by Gabrielle crying.

"She's married?" Jack's mind asked. He turned, and walked away. He, of course, believed in love at first sight.

So did she. She looked back up to where he was at and she saw him walking away. He was really handsome and his blond hair was shining in the sun. Like I'd have a chance with him! she thought. She continued her day, thinking of the mysterious man with blond hair in first class. Why couldn't she stop thinking of him? She didn't know. She just didn't.
