ESCAPE: A JACK AND ROSE STORY
Chapter Ten

"She loves me," Jack whispered, walking up the stairs. He wanted to scream it. Rose actually loved him. She'd finally admitted it after denying it several times.

He walked into his stateroom. Elizabeth was in there. "Where have you been?" she asked, rudely.

"Out," he said, simply.

"You're not allowed to go out anymore, Jack! We are supposed to be married shortly!" she said.

"We won't be getting married," he said.

"What?" she asked, quietly.

"We won't be getting married. I'm calling it off," he told her.

"You do know you're giving up millions of dollars, don't you?" she asked, coldly.

"Yeah, I know. Probably even more." He nodded.

"How could you do this to me?!" she raged.

"Simply. I'm not marrying you. I'll pay for your train ticket to Philadelphia when we get to America. Now I'm tired. Go to your room so I can sleep peacefully," he ordered.

"Go to hell." she said, walking out the door and slamming it behind her.

After he'd undressed and gotten into bed, she walked into the room.

"At first I didn't think it was true, but now I do think you're in love with that third class trash!" she screamed.

He got out of bed. "Don't you dare say that again," he commanded.

"Third class trash," she said, coldly.

"Get out," he demanded.

"I hope you enjoy your time together." she smiled and walked out.

He locked the door behind her. What did she mean by that? I hope you enjoy your time together? He hoped she didn't do anything to Rose. If she did, he'd kill her. No one would mess with Rose. He loved Rose more than anything and if Elizabeth Hockley did anything to her, he'd destroy her socially, where it mattered most. He needed to stop thinking of Elizabeth. He needed to get to bed, so he could dream of Rose.
