ESCAPE: A JACK AND ROSE STORY
Chapter Eleven

Jack woke up early, feeling like a burden had been lifted from his shoulders. He got dressed wearing black pants and a white shirt.

He walked down to Rose's room. He couldn't wait to see her. To hold her. To kiss her.

Had she really told him she loved him? Or had he imagined it?

A few minutes later he was knocking on her door. She answered with a dress in her hand and a needle with red thread in her mouth. She quickly took it out of her mouth. "Hi Jack," she said, hugging him without poking him with the needle.

"Hey, Rose. What are you doing?" he asked.

"Trying to sew this Godforsaken bloody dress," she said, indicating the one Madeline Astor let her borrow.

"Want to take a break?" he asked.

"Yes, thank you! I've been working on this thing for two hours. I finally let Gabbie go play so she'd stop frustrating me," she said. "Sorry, I know that sounds mean."

"No, it's all right," he said as she put the dress away.

"Well, what did you want to talk about?" she asked.

"I broke off the engagement," he said simply.

"Y-you did?" she asked, forcing herself to stop smiling.

"Yeah...I want to be with you, Rose. I know it sounds crazy being that we've only known each other for a few days but I love you."

"I love you, too. It doesn't sound crazy. Well, not to me," she said. "But when I woke up this morning I thought that I'd dreamt it."

"I felt the same way this morning," he admitted.

She smiled. "So, Jack, are you willing to be with me and a little girl?" she asked.

"I have been ever since we met," he whispered.

"R-really?" she asked.

He nodded, leaning his face in to hers. He captured her lips.

The kiss broke and they looked into each other's eyes. Silently telling each other they wanted more. She captured his lips in a long, passionate embrace.
