Chapter Thirteen

April 14, 1912
Later

Jack and Rose took Gabbie down to the third class steerage party.

Fabri and Helga said they'd watch her so Jack and Rose could have time alone. Jack took Rose's hand and led her outside. The sun was going down as he led her to the bow.

Rose was enjoying the soft touch of his hand in hers. "Where are we going?" she asked.

"To the bow," he whispered.

"What for?" she asked.

"You'll see," he said.

She smiled. He had that mysterious gleam in his eyes. She loved it. He was a true romantic. The mystery, the love, the...well everything. Everything about him intrigued her and he knew it. But she also intrigued him. They knew they were meant for each other. They knew because the touch of each other's hands. The look in their eyes when the looked at each other. The kisses. The three most wonderful words in the world, "I love you." It was everything. Their whole worlds now revolved around each other. Even when they'd only known each other for mere days.

When at the bow, he whispered, "Now, close your eyes." She hesitated. "Go on," he urged softly.

She smiled and did as told. "Now, step up and onto the railing. That's it. Keep your eyes closed. Don't peek," he said and she giggled slightly.

"I'm not," she said reassuringly.

When he was situated behind her, he asked, "Do you trust me?"

"I trust you."

He took her arms and spread them to her sides, then put his hands on her waist to steady her.

"Now, open your eyes," he whispered.

"I'm flying, Jack!" she exclaimed, whispering.

"Come Josephine in my flying machine, going up she goes, up she goes..." he sang as he put his arms out by hers, their fingers molding together, her auburn curls dancing in the wind.

They put their arms down and intertwined them around her waist and she turned her head to look at him. At last, their lips were united again in a passionate embrace.

Now they knew...true love was real and they shared it.
