ESCAPE: A JACK AND ROSE STORY
Chapter Four

April 13, 1912

The next day, Jack walked to Rose's stateroom and knocked on the door.

He'd been thinking about her all day and all of the night before. He couldn't get his mind off of her. It was driving him mad. But he really didn't mind. She was a fascinating woman. He'd asked Molly Brown and Madeline Astor to help Rose get ready. They agreed.

Rose opened the door happy to see Jack. But wasn't it a little early?

"Hello Rose." he said.

"Hi Jack." she smiled.

She too did not get enough sleep. She was thinking of him, of course. She knew that he wouldn't like a woman from third class so she tried not to think of him. But she couldn't help it. He was so handsome and nice. There were so many words in which she could describe him as but none of them even measured up to him when compared.

"Isn't it a little early for dinner?" she asked, still smiling. She couldn't control it.

"Yes, it is, but I was wondering if you'd like to take a walk with me out on deck." he told her. He too was smiling. He didn't even attempt to stop it. He was helpless.

"All right." she said, walking out of the tiny room.

"Where's Gabbie?" asked Jack. Like her, he was happy they'd get to spend time alone. But neither of them said anything about that.

"She's with my friend. I didn't think you or anyone else would want a two-year-old up from third class up there. I'm sure they don't want me up there either." she said quietly.

"Rose, not all of the first-class are like that." he told her.

"Name one." she challenged.

"Me....and Molly Brown. And the Astors also." he grinned in victory.

"All right, all right, but that's all."

"Nope...I left one out, Thomas Andrews." said Jack.

She felt like she was going to swoon at the sight of him.
