ESCAPE: A JACK AND ROSE STORY
Chapter Seven

Molly Brown was entertaining everyone with one of her stories.

Jack and Rose kept giving each other flirtatious glances and smiles. Jack knew she was the one. She had to be. He was ending it with Elizabeth. He didn't want to marry her. He didn't care if he was disinherited from the Boston Dawsons. He wanted to be free. Free of Elizabeth. Free of everything. With the exception of Rose.

The men at the table were now on their way out of the dining area.

"Rose, do you want me to escort you back to your state-room?" asked Jack.

"No I'll be fine. Tell Madeline I'll return the dress tomorrow." she told him.

"All right." he said, sad to see her go. He kissed her hand and she put a note in his hand and walked away.

He opened the note and it read.

Make it count, meet me at the clock.

Rose

He walked out of the dining area and went to the clock where she was waiting. Her curls where falling out of place, somewhat, and she looked absolutely gorgeous.

He walked up the steps and she turned around. "I-I think we need to talk." she said.

"Yes, indeed." he nodded and she walked away with him following.

They walked up onto the deck. "Jack...I-I don't think we, we...we should see each other anymore." she told him.

"What? Why?" he asked, confused. He was willing to give up everything for her. Everything.

"Jack, I-it would look so bad...me, being poor with a child, being with you. You're rich and people will--" she tried to say, but was interrupted.

"Who cares? Don't make me suffer any longer, Rose." he pleaded. His lips nearing hers.

"I can't do this." she told him, trying to walk away but to no avail.

"Rose, you know you feel something, something good. I feel it. And I know you do. Don't go." Jack begged.

"I-I don't feel an-anything." she lied, trying to escape his gaze.

"Don't lie." He whispered.

"I have to. F-for my sake and Gabbie's. A-and yours." she told him. Their faces were merely two inches apart.

"What will happen if we do fall in love?" he asked.

"Please, leave me alone." she stated and walked off. Or she tried to.

He grabbed her hand. "That's impossible." he told her.

"Nothing is impossible. Will you do me a favor?"

"Depends."

"Take care of Gabbie for me," she said, tears stinging her eyes.

"Why? What are you going to do?" he was worried now.

"Please..." she begged.

"All right," he gave in.

"Thank you. Good bye Jack--Mr. Dawson." she said, before running away.

"Rose!" he screamed for her but she was either too far away or just ignoring him.

God, don't let her do something stupid, Jack prayed.

He followed her path.
