JACK AND ROSE GOING TO EUROPE
Chapter Eleven

Jack and Rose were getting ready to go sightseeing.

"So, where do you want to go first?" Jack asked, putting on his shoes.

Rose thought for a second before replying, "I would love to see the Eiffel Tower, then have a picnic in the park."

"Sounds good to me. Are you ready?"

"Yes."

"Let's go, then."

*****

Rose and Jack made their way to the top of the tower.

"I can't believe how small everything appears to be from here," Rose said.

"I know. Have you been up here before?"

Rose shook her head no, and replied, "This is the first time I have been up here."

"I thought you had been to Paris before."

"I have once, just after I had gotten engaged to Cal."

"Rose--about Cal--I confronted him the night you were raped by him."

"So, it was you who killed him?"

"No. I just told him what a monster he was, not only for raping you, but for how he treated you when you two were engaged. He replied that you were a slut who deserved to be raped. If the Master-at-Arms had not walked in at that time, I swear I would have killed him."

"I thought he was killed by the gun he had planned to use on you."

"He was. You know, he tried to act tough, but he was really a coward."

"Jack, let's not talk about Cal anymore. He is dead."

"Sounds good to me."

After another ten minutes, Jack and Rose decided to go to the store to get food for their picnic.

*****

Jack and Rose walked into a small food shop. After selecting their items, they were waiting in line. Rose felt a tap on her shoulder, and turned around.

"Mother, what are you doing in Paris?"

"I am living here now."

"Where is Beth?"

"She is with Sara, at the house."

"See you later," Rose said.

"How about tomorrow? There is something I have to tell you."

"I have to speak to Jack first, but it should be no problem. Can you write down how to get to your house?"

Ruth reached into her purse and took out a piece of paper and a pen. After writing down her address, she handed it to Rose.

Rose took the paper and thanked her mother.

"Rose, was that your mother?" Jack asked, as they were walking out of the store.

"Yes. She asked us to come over tomorrow. She told me there is something she has tell me. I hope it is not bad news."

"Try not to worry about it."

"I will try not to, but I have a funny feeling in my stomach."

Jack just smiled, because he already knew the great news Ruth wanted to tell her daughter.

*****

After they had finished their lunch in the park, Jack and Rose lay on the blanket and gazed up into the sky.

Jack pointed to the sky, and said, "Look. A shooting star. What do you wish for?"

Rose smiled, and replied, "I can't tell you, because it is a secret."

Jack just smiled, because he knew what Rose had wished for--the same thing she wished for since they had gotten married.

"Rose, we should head back to our hotel."

"Why can't we stay out here a bit longer?"

"Because we have to get up early."

"Okay," Rose replied, wondering why they had to get up early. Since they had been in Paris, they had stayed up late and slept until almost noon.

"You will find out the reason in the morning."

"Okay," Rose replied. She wondered, though, why she had to wait until morning.
