JACK AND ROSE GOING TO EUROPE
Chapter Fifteen
Seven Months
Later
"Jack, wake
up. I think the babies are coming," Rose said, shaking Jack.
"What?"
"Jack, please
go get my mother. Then, call the doctor."
"Okay, Rose.
Are you sure this is not a false alarm?"
"Yes, Jack.
Please, hurry."
"Okay. I will
be right back," Jack replied, kissing her on the forehead.
*****
Ruth was in bed,
reading a magazine, when Jack knocked on the door.
"Ruth, we need
you. Rose is in labor."
"Okay. I will
be right there," Ruth replied, putting her magazine on the table by her
bed.
"I have to
call the doctor," Jack said. "Then, I will stay with Rose until he
gets here."
*****
Ruth walked into
Jack and Rose's bedroom.
"How are you
doing, Rose?"
"Okay, but a
little scared."
"It will be
okay," Ruth said, trying to calm Rose.
"Mother,
please get Jack. I can feel one of the babies’ heads."
Ruth was about to
leave to get Jack when he walked into the room.
"The doctor
will be here in forty-five minutes," Jack said.
"It may be too
late," Ruth replied.
"Why?"
"Rose can already
feel one of the babies’ heads."
"Rose, I need
you to push," Jack told her.
"I will
try."
"You are doing
great, Rose. Keep pushing. The first baby is almost here."
A few seconds
later, a cry filled the room.
"Rose, we have
a daughter," Jack said, cleaning their new daughter before wrapping her in
a blanket.
"What are you
going to call her?" Ruth asked.
"Emily Ruth
Dawson," Rose replied.
A few minutes
later, the twin, a boy, was born, who they named Jacob Andrew Dawson.
A knock came from
downstairs.
"I will get
it," Ruth told them.
