Jack and Rose were thrown to the
side as the ship swerved to avoid an iceberg. Rose started to fall, but Jack
caught her in his arms. They laughed and kissed passionately. The cold suddenly
hit them. Jack wrapped his arms tighter around Rose as she shivered violently.
Cal suddenly appeared behind Rose.
"What are you doing,
Rose?" he asked, almost too calmly. He raised his hand as if to slap her.
Rose flinched. Jack saw this and pushed Rose behind him.
"Leave her alone," he
said quietly, but the intensity was ferocious.
"Jack, no," Rose
whispered into his ear.
"Rose, go back to your room.
I’ll deal with you later," Cal said threateningly. She squeezed Jack’s
hand and left. "How dare you? She is my fiancée," Cal said between
clenched teeth.
"At least she’s not afraid
of me." Cal raised his fist. Jack stopped himself from flinching away. Cal
sighed and lowered his fist. Jack slammed his fist against Cal’s nose and ran.
Cal caught his arm and threw Jack to the deck. Jack dodged Cal’s foot and got
to his feet. Cal tried to grab him, but slipped and fell overboard. That was
the last anyone saw of Cal Hockley.
When the Titanic docked, Rose
said her final good-bye to her mother before running off with Jack. Rose
discovered a few weeks later that she was pregnant. The two of them got married
shortly before their child was born. They had three more children and died an
old, happy couple.
