MY HEART BELONGS TO YOU
Chapter Ten
"Rose. Rose, wake up," Jack said,
as he nudged Rose.
"What?" Rose asked sleepily, and rubbed
her eyes.
"You start your new job today,
remember?" Jack said.
"Yeah, but what time is it?" Rose
asked.
"Eight. You told me to wake you up
before I go to work."
"Oh," Rose said, and she started to
get out of bed. "I'll go make lunches," Rose said, and went
downstairs. She made sandwiches, put an apple in, and a cookie, which she made
fresh last night. Jack came down the stairs in a hurry. "Here is your
lunch," Rose said.
"Thank you, Mother," Jack said in a
childish voice. Rose laughed, and kissed him. "Bye," Jack said.
"Bye," Rose said, and he left the
house.
She watched Jack through the window, and went
to go get dressed. Rose pulled out her old ballet outfit. She forgot that she
was pregnant, so she put it back, and put her hair up into cinnamon roll shaped
bun. She grabbed her lunch and a book to read.
She walked across the street, and opened the
doors to the ballet school. It smelled like the studios always did. She went
upstairs where her room would be, and it was empty. She looked around, and
smiled. She stared at herself in the large mirror, and examined herself by the
sides.
"There is no doubt that I am
pregnant," Rose said. The door then opened, and children came in. They
placed their bags on the side of the walls and sat down on the floor.
"Good morning," Rose said.
"Good morning," the students
replied.
"Well, my name is Madame Dawson, and I
will be your ballet instructor," Rose said. There were suddenly whispers
passed, and then stopped. A girl's hand rose highly to the air.
"Yes?" Rose asked.
"You're the teacher?" the girl
asked.
"Yes, I am," Rose said.
"Well, forgive me, Madame Dawson. It is
just that, well, we have never had one that is pregnant." The children
laughed, and Rose gave a smile.
"What's your name?" Rose asked.
"Trudy," the girl said.
"Well, Trudy, would you like to come and
feel the baby?" Rose asked.
Trudy stood up and placed her hand on Rose's
stomach. "I can--I can feel it," Trudy said to everyone else. Trudy
sat back down.
"All right, now. I'm going to point to
you, and I want you to tell me your name and age," Rose said. She went all
around the room. It ended up for this class that the youngest one was a
twelve-year-old girl, and the oldest a fifteen-year-old boy. The next class
varied from thirteen to seventeen. Her last class was all professionals;
varying from seventeen to twenty-one.
When she was done for the day, Rose decided
to go home and make supper. It was a long day.
