MY HEART BELONGS TO YOU
Chapter Eleven
Rose felt wonderful when Jack nudged Rose to
wake her up. It had been two weeks so far into her new job, and the head
teacher absolutely adored Rose.
"Jack, please don't nudge me. I was
having the most excellent dream," Rose said.
"What was it about?" Jack asked,
lying beside her on the bed.
"That my children were out of my
stomach, you and I were making passionate love, and I didn't feel awful like I
am right now," Rose said. Jack chuckled and laughed, giving Rose a kiss.
"Come on. Let's get ready for the day," Jack said.
"Jack, I'm gonna go and take a hot
shower," Rose said, hurrying to the bathroom. Jack was perplexed, but he
decided to go downstairs and make the lunches. Rose came down with her outfit
on, and said, "Jack, I think you need to take me to Rachel's office."
Rose held her huge stomach.
"What?" Jack asked, surprised.
"Come on. I'll explain on the way
there," Rose said. Jack helped her into the wagon, and they went onward
towards Rachel's office. "Jack, I took a hot shower this morning because
it's supposed to make the cramps go away, and they didn't, which means that I
am in labor," Rose said calmly. Jack's heart was thumping, and he made a
"HAW" sound with the reins, and the horses went faster. "Jack,
go slow. Every time you hit a bump it really doesn't feel good," Rose
said, in pain.
"WHOA!" Jack said to the horses,
straining the reins.
They finally reached the office and Jack
helped Rose out. Jack opened the door, and Rachel was sitting at her desk.
"Um, Rachel, I think it is baby time," Jack said.
Rachel gave a quick smile, and said,
"Well, let's not jump to conclusions. Come in here." Rose lay down on
the bed, and Rachel examined her, looking at her watch. "Well, you are
right. It is baby time. You just started though, so what I want you to do is go
back home, get in bed, and I will be there in a jiffy," Rachel said.
Rose sighed, and said, "Again?"
Jack laughed, and said, "Don't worry,
honey. I'll go slow this time. I promise." Rose nodded and they went
towards the wagon.
Rachel got her things together, put a sign on
the door, locked the office, got her medical bag, and ran towards the house.
She could already see the house, since it was quite tall.
"Hey, you need a ride?" Kevin asked
on his horse.
Rachel stopped. "Oh yes, please. Rose is
in labor right now," Rachel said.
"Labor? Come on, get on," Kevin
said. Rachel got in front, and Kevin got in back so there wouldn't be a great
chance of falling off. "Ready? Hold on tight. Ready?" Kevin asked.
"HAW!" Rachel said, and the horse
flew towards the house. "WHOA!" Rachel said. She got off, and Kevin
followed her.
"Rachel, wait!" Kevin said.
Rachel turned around, and Kevin kissed her.
Rachel smiled and ran into the house. Kevin followed her. Rachel called, and
she heard Jack upstairs. She followed the noise. Rachel saw Rose on the bed
with her sweat all over her, and Jack holding her head wiping sweat off her
forehead with a cool rag.
"Is she okay?" Kevin mumbled to
Rachel.
"Yes, Kevin. This is what all pregnant
women look like when they are in labor," Rachel said, and then went over
to the bed. "Rose, you're halfway to delivering the baby. Kevin, I want
you to go and get Jessica, Donald, Teddy, and Hannah. I'm pretty sure they
wouldn't want to miss this." Kevin ran downstairs to do the duty.
Rose smiled at Jack. "I think I know
what I want to name the girl," Rose said.
"What?" Jack asked curiously.
"Samantha Rose," Rose said,
smiling.
Jack smiled, and said, "That's
beautiful. I'm pretty sure about what I want to name the boy."
"What?" Rose asked.
"Kyle Jack," Jack said.
"That's beautiful," Rose said, and
smiled. "Ow!" Rose held her stomach. Jack felt Rose squeezing his
hand tightly.
"I think it is baby time, Rose,"
Rachel said.
"Did someone say baby time?" Donald
said, with Jessica, Teddy and Hannah behind him. Rose smiled.
"All right. Rose, do you want everyone
in here?" Rachel asked. Rose nodded in pain.
"Okay, then. All right. Rose, on the
count of three, we are going to start pushing, okay?" Rachel said. Rose
nodded. "Ready? One, two, three. Push, Rose. Come on," Rachel said
calmly. Rose started to push. "I see a head," Rachel said. Rose
smiled and let out a breath. "No, keep on pushing, sweetie. Don't stop
now," Rachel said.
"Come on, Rosie," Jack said. Rose
pushed again, and she heard a cry.
"It's a boy!" Rachel said.
"All right, Rose. There is another one coming."
Everyone except for Rachel, Rose, and Jack
were shocked. "Another?" they said in unison.
It only took one big push for Rose to get it
out. "It's a girl!" Rachel said.
Everyone smiled, and went over to look at the
new babies. Jack held Kyle, and Rose held Samantha.
"Hello, Samantha," Rose said, with
a tear down her cheek. Jack smiled as his son's hand wrapped around his finger.
Kyle was sleeping and Rose was feeding Samantha.
"Hey, Kyle," Hannah said, going
over to where Jack was.
Teddy followed and smiled, looking over
Hannah's shoulder. Donald and Kevin looked at Samantha. Samantha had red, curly
hair and blue eyes. Kyle had blonde hair and blue eyes.
