Chapter One
Rose woke up the next morning ready for a
fresh start in her new life. When the Carpathia reached the shore, she saw
reporters and families waiting for the survivors, eager to see if their loved ones
had made it. Rose looked for anyone or anything. Then she saw her mother and
Cal.
All right, she thought. Do you want to be Mrs. Rose Hockley,
stuck with a man you don't love, or Rose Dawson, widow to a great man—Jack
Dawson?
And as the Carpathia docked, she put her old
life behind her and started to get ready for a fresh start. As she made her way
down the alley to get away from the reporters, tears started forming in her
eyes as she remembered her last night with Jack.
"When the ship docks, I'm getting off
with you."
The words just circled through her head until
she knew she really was getting off with him, and she also knew that it was his
baby she was carrying with her in this journey through the life that lay ahead
of her. Rose DeWitt Bukater? She was dead, and Rose Dawson was the woman who
set many goals for life.
