HEARTS ARE BROKEN, LIVES ARE SHATTERED
Chapter Three
Jack walked down the streets of New York. He
finally made it past the reporters and worried family members. He had loved
Rose, and she had promised him she would make it. Why didn't she? he
thought.
Meanwhile…
Rose woke up to the smell of New York. What
is the world without Jack? she thought. As she looked down the street, she
saw a familiar face.
"Your going mad," she thought aloud.
"Jack's dead."
Jack looked straight ahead and saw a familiar
face, but he thought the same as Rose did. As he edged closer, he saw that it
was Rose!
"Jack!" she yelled.
"Rose! Oh, my God! It is you! I thought
you died!" he said.
"So did I, Jack. So did I," she
replied. They kissed passionately, and then just held each other.
"Rose, I never got to tell you this, and
I have hated myself for it. I love you, Rose DeWitt Bukater," he said.
"Well, actually, it's Rose Dawson,"
Rose replied. Jack was shocked that this woman that he had known for three days
had taken his name. "I love you, Jack Dawson. Never forget that," she
said.
As they walked down the street, they saw a
sign in a window. Room for Rent, it said. They walked in the front door
and asked about it. Once they got to the room, Jack sat down on the bed with
Rose.
"Rose, you made my world a better place
the first time I saw you. I'm speechless when I just think about you, and there
are four words that you can answer that would make me happy. Will you marry
me?"
Rose was shocked. Poetry had just been spoken
to her by a man she barely knew but fully trusted. "Yes. I will marry you.
I can't believe that I am doing this. I barely know you, Jack, but you have my
full trust."
They kissed, and as their kiss deepened, so
did their love for each other, and they made love, not a word spoken after.
Just the reassuring love for each other that would grow through time.
