Rose ran out of the cargo hold,
laughing with Jack. They were in the middle of a passionate kiss when a lurch
in the ship made them stumble. Ice fell on the deck, and some people played
with it.
Two Hours Later
The captain sent out a distress
call, but the ships were too far away and the water so cold it would kill in
minutes. They'd never make it. The captain looked out his porthole to watch the
chaos unfold.

Rose was in a lifeboat, wearing
her betrothed’s coat and looking at Jack. He had said there was another
lifeboat, but as she looked at his face, she could see he had lied to get her
in the boat. She jumped out into a window that they were passing and ran to
him. Jack met her halfway, and they embraced. Her betrothed fell in the water
and was never seen again.

This is it. There is no hope, thought Rose as she heard screams from the
terrified people.
At that moment, a horn was heard,
and rising from the mist came a Japanese whaling ship. They had seen the
fireworks and thought there was a party.
They came to the rescue.

Rose and Jack got in a boat after
an hour. They were among the last people to leave—them and the captain. The
deck was half gone as the ship went into the water. Jack held Rose tightly, as
if for dear life. Rose was singing a song quietly to herself as the crewmen
rowed to safety.

"I love you, but you deserve
better," said Jack "We will starve in the streets if you stay with
me!"
Rose laughed to herself as she
held something she had found in her pocket. "Don’t worry about
money!"
Jack saw it, and they looked in
shock at each other. It was the Heart of the Ocean.

The next morning, a head count concluded
that only two were missing, her betrothed and Rose, because if she were to say
she was alive, her mother would force her to marry some other man.

Jack and Rose lived a long, happy
life together. They lived for many years and had many children and lots of
money from selling the jewel to open a factory, making their own type of candy
and selling it worldwide.
