HOW I FOUND MY LOVE...JACK DAWSON: IN ROSE'S EYES ONLY
Chapter Two
April 11, 1912
At Cherbourg, a woman came on named Margaret
Brown, but we all called her Molly. Mother called her "new money." We
sat down for dinner. Like I predicted, Cal showed me around like a piece of
meat.
That was the night I met John Jacob Astor,
but not his wife. She was seasick and also was pregnant. Cal, though, kept on
saying to me, "In the list of the rich ones, there is only two. Me and
John. John is the one on top," Cal said, introducing me to him.
"Yes, well, it wasn’t my decision to go
on the Titanic. It was all Madeline’s and Margaret's," John said,
laughing.
"Well, don’t worry, there is tons of
Hockley Steel on this ship," Cal said, and we walked off to take our seats
for dinner.
