HOW I FOUND MY LOVE...JACK DAWSON: IN ROSE'S EYES ONLY
Chapter Six

April 15, 1912

As time passed, I drifted away, waiting for a boat. Then, I heard something.

"Is anyone alive out there? Can anyone here me?"

I looked over to where the voice was coming from, and it was a boat. I looked over at Jack, and rubbed his hand.

"Jack."

He opened his eyes, and said, "Hmm? What?"

I turned to the boat, and said, "Look, Jack. There is a boat."

He yelled. "Over here! Hey! Over here!" He looked at me, and said, "Quick, Rose. Go get that whistle and blow it."

I got off the piece of debris, and took the whistle out of his mouth, and blew the whistle.

They turned around, and said, "Come about!"

I kept on blowing the whistle, and Jack was right behind me the whole time.

They put the flashlight on us, and said, "Can you come to the boat?"

"We'll try," Jack said. "Come on, Rose."

We started to swim. As I passed all those dead people, it made me cry. I saw a woman with a child in her arms. It was sad. As I got to the boat, Jack lifted me up into the boat, and then Jack got in. We were then greeted with warm blankets.

As a crew person handed Jack a blanket, he shook his head, and said, "No, give the blanket to her."

As they put it on me, I shook my head, and said, "Jack, you're the one that really needs the blanket."

Jack shook his head, and gave me a sign to come here. As I went over, I cuddled against Jack's body, and we shared both blankets.

I fell asleep in Jack’s arms, but before I fell asleep, I said, "Jack..."

He looked at me, and said, "Hmm?"

"I can feel your heartbeat."

He kissed my forehead, and said, "I love you, Rose."

"I love you, too, Jack." And I fell asleep. So did Jack.

When I woke up, I saw that we were coming to another ship. I could read the word Carpathia on the ship. I saw people look down at Jack and I. Almost all the people were wearing black, and were crying. I looked over at Jack, and I was so glad to be with him.

He was already awake before I was, and he looked down at me and said, "Morning."

I smiled at him, and said, "Good morning."

As the ship lifted us up, I was a little bit glad that we would be back on a ship. When we got on the ship, they asked me if I would take off my lifebelt. I nodded my head, and Jack helped me take it off. We were then greeted with more blankets, and some nice warm tea, and good complimentary brandy.

We walked around the ship a little, and then Officer Lowe asked, "I have some nice warm gourmet chicken broth. Would you two like some?"

"Yes, please," I said.

"Yeah, get some for me, too," Jack said.

As we looked at the ocean, I started to cry.

When Jack saw me crying, he said, "Rosie, what’s wrong?"

I held on to him tight, and said, "Jack, what is going to happen to those people that froze in the water?"

He looked at me, and said, "You are so caring, Rose. You are so caring. I think that after we go to New York, they’ll take a ship and go get them." And he kissed my forehead.

When they brought back the soup, I was surprised to see Officer Lowe and Molly Brown.

"Hi, kids!" she said, very happily. "Well, Rose, I have to say I thought you were a goner when you didn’t want to come into that boat. I thought the same way about Jack. Well, Jack, I think that you and Rose are both good to have around in a sticky spot."

Jack looked at me, and said, "Rose, you didn’t go into the boat because you wanted to save me?"

I nodded, and said, "What can I say? I love you, Jack."

We kissed. Even though Molly was still there, she didn’t seem to mind.

"Well, Rose, I better go tell your mother and Cal that you are all right."

As she went off, I said, "No!"

She looked back at me, perplexed, and said, "Why not?"

I looked at Jack, then at Molly, and said, "Because the only thing they have brought me was grief."

She nodded her head, and said, "All right."

A couple minutes later, when I was sipping my broth with Jack, I saw Cal come over to us. My eyes were focused on him as he came closer.

"Rose...your mother and I have been looking for you--"

Holding my hand, stopping him, I said, "Please don’t. Don’t talk. Just listen. We will make a deal, since that is something you understand. From this moment you do not exist for me, nor I for you. You shall not see me again. In return, I will keep my silence. Your actions last night never need to come to light, and you will get to keep the honor you have so carefully purchased."

I paused for a minute, giving him a cold, hard glare.

Then Jack said, "Cal, is this in any way unclear to you?"

Then, still looking at him, then at me, he said, "What do I tell your mother?"

I thought for a minute, and said, "Tell her that her daughter died with the Titanic."

Then I started to walk away with Jack, and then he said, "You are precious to me, Rose."

I turned around, snapping at him, saying, "Jewels are precious. Good-bye, Mr. Hockley."

Then, I suddenly remembered the note that the woman gave me. I looked at the name, and on it said Caledon Hockley.

I turned around, and said, "Oh, and Cal."

He turned around as I held the piece of paper.

I said, "Does this look familiar?"

He ran over to me, and looked at what it said.

"Marie! No, no!" he said.

He began to cry.

He looked at me, and said, "She told you to give this to me?"

I nodded my head.

"How did she die?" he asked.

"The same way as I did. She died on the Titanic." And Jack and I walked away.

As we stopped, Jack said, "Rose, can we check the passenger list? I want to see if Tommy and Fabrizio made it."

I nodded my head.

"I’ll go with you."

We went to a person that had the passenger list.

"Can I help you?" the officer asked.

"Ah, yes. Is there a Tommy Ryan on that list?"

He looked at it, and said, "I am sorry, sir. There is no Tommy Ryan."

He looked at the officer, and said, "Well, are there any other boats that will come in?"

He looked at Jack, and said, "No sir."

He nodded, and said, "Well...uh...how about a man named Fabrizio?"

The officer looked at him to continue.

"Fabrizio..." He looked at the officer, saying just Fabrizio.

He looked at the list, saying, "Nope."

He looked at the captain, saying, "Where can I find these people if they are alive?"

"They would be downstairs, but please, do be very quiet down there. There are a lot of mourning women grieving over their loss."

We nodded our heads, and headed down to the stairs.

As we entered, we could hear the weeping of women.

Jack and I looked around, and we found Tommy and Fabrizio.

Jack then had a sad look on his face as he sat down on a chair.

"I’m sorry, Jack," I told him.

He looked at me, and said, "I love you, Rose," and he hugged me.

It was just about 5:00 PM when we arrived in New York.

As we got off the ship, the immigrant officer came over to Jack, and said, "Sir, can I have your name, please?"

"Uh...Jack...Jack Dawson."

Then the immigrant officer came over to me, and said, "Can I take your name please, love?"

I looked at him, and said, "Dawson. Rose Dawson."

Jack looked over at me, and said, "I love you, Rose." And he kissed me.

As we held hands, walking down the street, he said, "So, how about that letter?"

I laughed at him, and said, "Wait a minute, you aren’t really going to do it are you?"

He looked at me, and said, "Why, of course I am. I lost my best drawing, and my best deck of cards."

As we stopped for a minute, I said, "Jack, wait."

I felt something in Cal’s coat pocket.

As I got it out, I was surprised to see the Heart of the Ocean.

"Jack, look. It's the diamond!"

Jack looked at it in shock, and said, "How did the diamond stay in your pocket all this time?"

"I have no idea, but I need to put it back in my pocket before anyone spots it," I said, and I quickly slipped it back into my pocket.

"What about the other pocket? Is anything in that one?" Jack asked, pointing to the other side.

I put my hand in there, to feel something soggy. I took it out, and it was money.

"Why, there must be at least a million American dollars in here!" I said in shock.

Jack looked at me, and said, "Look at that."

I put it back in my pocket, and we looked around. We then saw Molly get off the ship, and she was swarmed with photographers, but excused herself as she saw Jack and I.

She rushed over to us, and said, "Well, now, where are you two headed?"

"We're not sure yet, but wherever we go, we will be happy," I said.

The End.
