JACK AND ROSE: TOGETHER FOREVER
Chapter Fifteen

December 1, 1912

Rose shoved her hands in her coat pocket and looked around. It looked as if it was going to rain. 'Great, just what we need more rain.' She thought. It had been raining for the last week and had briefly cleared up this morning, but now it looked like it was back. Rose was on her way back from her lunch date with Jack. He was teaching art today because it was Friday, and Rose had decided to visit him.

She had shown up at the high school where he taught art and walked into his classroom where several of the senior guys had been giving her looks. Rose had just smiled at them and walked over to Jack's desk at the front of the class.

"Hay Jack." Rose had said sitting down on his desk.

"Hi Rose, what are you doing here honey?"

"Well Jack, I was wondering if we could go out to lunch today?"

"Oh ya sure that sounds great. It has been a hell of a week. First the kids in my mon-Thursday. math classes were joking off all day. And than half of the kids in this class forgot their projects at home." Jack had said keeping his voice down. "So yes. Class gets over in about 9 minutes so you can just wait in here if you want." He went back to looking through some of the are projects that they had turned in that morning. While he did this, Rose had looked around the room. The kids were at the fifteen art stands that were set up around the room, and appeared to be hard at work on a project. Rose smiled, Jack how had just been subbing for the rest of the year last year for two teachers, had landed both the jobs when the teachers had left to take care of their new babies. And now he had turned the classrooms into beautiful learning areas.

"Hay Mr. Dawson! Who is that? Is she your wife?" One of the boys had called out. That brought Rose back to the present and she had looked at Jack.

"Oh yes Cory. I am sorry class. This is my wife, Rose Dawson." Jack had told the class standing up and walking over to Rose.

"Hello everyone." Rose had said to the class. The class had called hello out to Rose and then most of them when back to their work, but a few came up to talk to Rose.

"So Mrs. Dawson, how long have you and Jack been married?" A seventeen-year-old girl had asked Rose. Rose had looked at Jack for his approval and than answered.

"Oh, we have been married for about eight mounts." She had answered and continued to converse with the girl who she had learned name was Alexandra. She was just in a middle of a conversation with another student when the bell rang.

"Alright class, I'll see you next week. Remember those art projects are due next Friday. And Mr. Clark if you 'forget' to do this project you will be walking on thin ice." Jack had called to them as they filed out of the classroom.

"Oh man I am glad this week is over." Jack told Rose as he closed the door.

"It is not over yet. You still have four forty-five minute periods till the day is over." Rose told him cheerfully.

"Ah I guess you are right." Jack said with a scowl on his face.

"Now I believe we were going out to lunch, Mrs. Dawson." Jack had told her while taking his coat off the back of the chair and putting it on. Rose had gave him a smile as he had taken her hand and lad to out the door.

The two had enjoyed a wonderful lunch, she had said good bye to Jack about a half-hour ago and had spent a half-hour window-shopping. But now it was time for her to get home. On the way to her apartment, Rose looked around. The shops were just getting ready for Christmas. And Rose thought they looked wonderful. All the Christmas lights and candles were in the windows and there Christmas decorations outside the stores. She smiled, Christmas was her favorite time of year, and even her mother never ruined the season for her. Rose hummed one of her favorite Christmas songs, 'Oh Come All Ye Faithful.'

'Too bad it was not going to snow instead of rain.' she thought. Rose had always loved the snow that fell in Philadelphia and she knew she was going to miss it. There was no chance it was going to snow now; it was 57 degrees in December. Way to warm to snow, but still cool enough to wear coats outdoors. Rose looked down the street she had just turned onto, and could see her apartment just a block away. Just than a clap of thunder sounded in the sky. Rose screamed as the rain started to fall and ran as fast as she could to her apartment.

Opening the door into the apartment, Rose stepped in side. Looking down at her feet, she saw the mail. Picking it up she looked at the contents. A bill, a letter from Bryan to Jack and one from Brittany. Rose set her purse on the counter and sat down to read the letter.

Dear Rose,

Hello, how are you? I hope your Thanksgiving went well. Nothing is really different here, although someone finally bought your old apartment. So how is life on the west coat? Over here it's cold and wet. The newspaper said it might snow tonight! I really want it to. So when are you are going to come and visit us. Maybe this summer or spring. I really want you to come up. It's not as fun without you here. Dianna is more serious now, sense you left. And I don't get it. Remember how she was always so giddy and nuts. Well now she never laughs at my jokes and it just really tight. I don't know what it is. I wish you were here to cheer her up.

The letter went on to talk about some other people and places that they know. Rose sighed as she finished the letter; she missed her old friends so much. She really wanted them to come out. After a few minutes of sitting there thinking, Rose got up and took her coat off. Setting it in the entry closet, she closed the door. Than Rose went about picking up the kitchen and living room to keep herself busy. She worked her way into the bedroom. Stepping inside Rose saw that it was a mess. Jack and her own clothes were all over the floor and Jacks drawings were all over the place. Picking up the clothes and setting the dirty ones into the dirty clothes basket they had set up. Than she arranged all Jacks drawings into a pile and set them inside his nightstand. When this was done, Rose steeped back. 'Much better.' She thought. She looked at the small clock hanging up in the room; it was about two-thirty, she still had about and hour till Jack came home. 'What should I do.' Rose thought. This was often a problem when Jack was at work; Rose never found anything to do. Walking out on to the covered balcony, Rose sat down. She watched the rain fall down onto the ocean, causing the ocean to be all foggy. Closing her eyes she thought about how much she loved it here, and how Brittany and the Fosters' should come down, and before long Rose had fallen asleep.
