JACK AND ROSE: TOGETHER FOREVER
Chapter Nineteen

Christmas Day, 1912

Rose slowly opened her eyes. She sat up and looked out the window, a heavy fog covered the Ocean and everything around it, as it often did in the winter. Rose smiled, 'Its Christmas!' she thought. 'Our first Christmas together too.' She thought looking over at a still sleeping Jack. 'Ah and he was teasing me of sleeping late. It's already 9:45. I wonder if I should wake him up or let him sleep until 10?' Rose looked at him for a minute and finally decided to wake him up, after all it was Christmas and he could sleep late tomorrow.

"Jack. Jack honey it's time to get up." Rose's voice cut through the silence. When he didn't stir, she rolled him over onto his back.

"Jack, Jack wake up!" She said louder this time. Jack slowly opened his blue eyes.

"Rose what? What time is it?" Jack slowly asked.

"It's about 9:46 to be exact. You talk about me sleeping late. Ha, and on Christmas to." Rose told him teasingly.

"Ah you are right Rose." Jack replied sitting up. "Merry Christmas!" He said leaning in to kiss Rose.

"Umm, Merry Christmas Jack."

"Shall we get up and open our presents and eat those wonderful cinnamon rolls that you made?" Jack asked her.

"Yep!" Rose shouted and threw of the covers, grabbing her robe and rapping it around herself. Jack followed her example and jumped out of bed. He took her hand in his own and together they walked into the living room. Rose gasped.

"Jack where did all this come from?!" Jack just smiled at her.

"While you were snoring away last night, I got up and put all your presents out. Plus a little extra." He added. Rose looked around, there was tones of presents under the tree, half of which were for her and half were for Jack. Also all around the room there were a lot more decorations and little dishes of different chocolates.

"Oh Jack, you didn't have to do all this! It looks wonderful!" Rose exclaimed giving him a kiss on the check.

"I wanted to Rosie. I love Christmas and I thought you would like it."

"Oh I do Jack. Can we open those presents now?" Rose asked excitedly. Jack laughed and nodded.

"Yes!" Rose yelled and scampered over to the tree while Jack followed.

"What should I open first?" Rose asked. Jack shrugged and picked up one of his own presents.

"To: Jack, All my love, Rose." He read off the card and started to open the paper.

"To: My Rose, All my love forever, Jack" Rose read off her own card as she started to open the small little box. Jack got done first.

"Rose this is wonderful thank you!" Jack said running over to Rose and giving her a kiss. He held in hand a box filled with the best art supplies that were out there.

"You're welcome Jack, but open this one next." Rose directed handing him a small little box. Jack nodded and Rose went back to opening her own gift. She slowly lifted the lid off the small box.

"Jack!" She exclaimed when she saw what was in side. She lifted the ring out of the box and held it up to the light. It was a small gold ring with sapphires all around it, matching her eyes.

"Jack this is gorgeous! I love it. You didn't have to get me this!" Rose exclaimed giving him a kiss.

"I saw it at the store and I thought it matched your eye's. So I got it for you. They are real sapphires." Jack added.

"Oh Jack you are way to good to me. You better have not gotten me anything else." Rose warned.

"To late Rose." Jack told her. "And speaking of blue colored stones. What did you ever do with The Heart of the Ocean?" He asked.

"It's in my drawer." Rose answered simply.

"Good because later I want you to put it on and I will do another drawing." Jack said with his eye's sparkling.

"OK Jack." Rose answered kissing him again. "That's my girl. Now let's get back to those presents. Now I believe I was to open this next." Jack said holding up a box. He opened it and pulled put a sheet of paper.

It read:

Dear Mr. Jack Dawson,

I would love to see some of your wonderful sketches! They are great and show promise of a great artist. I love them are considering buying some if you are willing to sell.

Give me a call and we'll arrange a meeting.

Thank you very much,
Bill Adams
Santa Monica Gallery

"Rose! What is this?" Jack asked.

"Well I sent in some of your sketches in to the gallery a few weeks ago. And yesterday I got this lovely letter in the mail. I deiced to wrap it up and give it to you as a gift. That's why I was asking about it last night." Rose told him.

"Oh Rose this is wonderful!" Jack exclaimed.

"This is what I always have wanted! Thank you so much!"

"Your welcome, but now let's open the rest of these, or well never get though the day. " Rose said. Jack nodded and started back on the presents but in his mind all day was that wonderful letter.

Rose and Jack sat on the couch much later that night. The dinner dishes were all done and almost all the candy was eaten. As were most of the cookies. Jack had his arm around Rose and she was cuddled next to him, "Oh Jack this is the best Christmas I have ever had." Rose said looking into his eyes.

"Me too Rose, me too. I just wish that my parents could be here to share it."

"Me too Jack, I would love to meet them. And if they are anything like you, I know I would love them."

"I think they would love you to Rose."

"I can't wait for Bryan and Dianna and Brit to get here." Rose said changing the subject.

"I know, are you ladies going to keep Bryan and me up all night though? Cuz if you do I will have to send them to a hotel." Rose giggled.

"Nope, I thought Bryan and Dianna could have the spare room and Brit could sleep on the couch. I am sure that she wouldn't mind."

"That sounds good to me." Jack replied. He looked at Rose for a minute before saying, "Mrs. Dawson, I think we have a drawing to do." Rose smiled at him.

"I think so too. Just give me a few minutes." Rose said jumping up and running into the bedroom. Jack smiled and got out his new charcoal pen and paper. And than moved the pillows around on couch. Rose suddenly emerged wearing her bathrobe and the Heart of the Ocean. She smiled at him and walked over. "Now Jack the last time we did this, a ship sank. Are you sure this is a good idea?"

"Yep." Jack replied.

"OK than." Rose said and her robe silently slipped to the floor.

Rose looked around, the clock said 12:30pm and Rose could not sleep. 'To much sugar.' She thought. She looked at Jack who was snoring lightly. She smiled at the mop of hair that hang in his face, covering his eye's. Rose rolled over and looked at the drawing that was now on her bedside table. It was wonderful full of life and detail and it also looked very much like the one that was now at the bottom of the ocean. She smiled at it and rolled over closer Jack. Jack felling her scoot closer woke up and rolled over taking her into his arms.

"Merry Christmas Rose." Jack whispered, his eyes still closed.

"Merry Christmas Jack." Rose said smiling and closing her eyes, and soon was fast asleep.
