JACK AND ROSE: TOGETHER FOREVER
Chapter Twenty-Nine
"Jack, take this awful blindfold off of
me." Rose said giggling as Jack led her somewhere.
"No way Rose. I want you to get the best
first impression of this house. Now here we go, go up the steps." He
instructed as he helped her up the front steps.
"Now here we are at the door. How many
fingers am I holding up?" Jack asked, holding up two fingers.
"I can't tell. Seriously I can't. Now
either take this blindfold off of me or take me inside." Rose said trying
to hit Jack playfully, but missing. Jack laughed at her attempt to hurt him.
"Missed me Rose. Now come on, I'll take
you inside." He said slipping one of his arms around her waist and opened
the door.
"Be careful Rose. Don't hit the other
door." Jack cautioned steering her out of the way. He led Rose inside and
stood her in the middle of the foyer. He shut the door and then returned to
Rose.
"Now, Rose, take of the blindfold."
Rose felt behind her head and untied the cloth. She slowly slipped off the
blindfold and then gasped.
"Oh my God." She whispered. Right
in front of her was a big open sitting room with bay windows in the front, to
her left a sunroom or a library, and to her right a staircase and a doorway.
Rose turned and faced a smiling Jack.
"This is amazing, unbelievable."
She said. Jack smiled at her.
"I knew you would love it. Now come on.
We have a tour to take."
"But Jack, what about the people who
live here."
"They moved out yesterday." Jack
told Rose coming over to her.
"But I thought you said you signed the
papers only a few days ago. How could they move so fast?" Rose asked.
"They were moving yesterday weather they
could sell the house or not. The husband got a job in Nebraska and they have to
be there tomorrow. Now were do you want to start from. The bottom or the
top?" Rose's eyes opened up wide.
"Just how many stories is this house
Jack?"
"Three." Jack answered.
"Now come on we'll start at the
bottom." Rose smiled and nodded. She followed Jack past the staircase, through
the doorway and into the kitchen. Than down a flight of stairs just off the
kitchen.
"Now Rose, this is the bottom
floor." Jack said as they entered a big open room with bright open
windows.
"Now this is one of the many living
rooms." Jack said gesturing to the room in front of them.
"Oh Jack, this is going to make a
wonderful playroom for our kids. And we can use one half for an office. That
way we can watch the kids while we're working or paying bills." Rose said
turning to face Jack and smiling. Jack smiled back.
"That sounds great to me Rose. And now
to your left, we have two wonderful bedrooms." He led Rose across the room
to where two doorways stood. He opened one to reveal a room of good size with a
lot of windows. The walls were painted a soft blue and the windowsill and trim
was white. The other room was the same but it was a little smaller and had its
own small bathroom. The next floor had a good size living room, big kitchen,
large parlor/dinning room, and a sunroom/library. There was also a large wrap
around deck all around the middle floor.
"Jack this is so amazing." Rose
whispered as they stood in the sunroom.
"I know. And you haven't even seen the
upstairs." Jack told Rose as he kissed her on the check. Rose laughed and
shook her head.
"Let's go up and see it then." Rose
said. Jack took her hand and led her up the split-level staircase. They stood
in front of a long hall. There were three doors on each side and a door at the
very end.
"Two of these are bedrooms." Jack
said pointing to the right of them.
"One is a bathroom. The door in the
middle. It's the same in the on the left." They went through all the rooms
and the bathrooms. Rose was very impressed at the size of everything.
"Jack what is that door?" Rose
leaned out of the room they were in and pointed at the end of the hall.
"That's our room." Rose looked at a
smiling Jack.
"Care to take a look Mrs. Dawson?"
"Sure thing Mr. Dawson." Rose said
taking Jack's arm and pulling him toward the end of the hall. She pushed the door
open and gasped. Their room was huge!
Rose turned and faced Jack, "Jack this
is almost as big as our whole apartment!"
"I know. It's great isn't it." Rose
just nodded and walked around the room. There was a huge bathroom, and a small
sitting room. Plus a balcony off the sitting room. Rose steeped out on the
balcony and put her arms out.
"Oh Romeo, Romeo!"
She said dramatically. Jack laughed, came up
behind her, and wrapped his arms around her from behind.
"Mmm Jack this is so wonderful."
Rose said leaning her head back and resting against Jack.
"But I don't understand how we can
afford this?"
"Well, Rose, we have more money than you
possibly know. Plus they guy gave me a little discount since I am Scott's
friend. And they were desperate to sell the place." Jack said kissing
Rose's neck.
"Mmm, when should we move in?" Rose
asked.
"How about in two weeks. That way we can
have some time to pack and such." Jack suggested lifting his head up.
"That sounds good. We are going to be
busy though. We have to get all new furniture, sheets and towels, rugs,
shelves." Jack nodded and rested his head on Rose's shoulder.
"Yeah, we are going to be one busy
couple the next few weeks." Jack said.
Rose laughed, "And what exactly do you
mean by that Jack?" she asked turning to face him. Jack shook his head and
laughed along with Rose.
"Come on. We had better get home. It's
getting late."
"Wait Jack. I want to tell you something
before we go." Rose said stopping Jack as he turned to leave.
"Rose?"
"Don't worry. It's nothing bad. I just,
wanted to tell you thank you. This is a dream come true. Last April and May I
never imagined this. It's unbelievable. Thank you Jack." Jack looked at
her, smiling up at him and those blue eyes sparkling.
"Rose I don't know what to say. I should
be the one thanking you."
"Why Jack?"
"Because, without you, I would still be
wondering around aimlessly, and I would not have love in my life. Plus, whom
would I have to credit my art success to? I love you so much Rose. I just want
to give you the world." Jack told Rose wrapping his arms around her, from
the front this time. Rose rested her head on Jack's shoulder.
"I love you too Jack. More then you
could ever know. And it doesn't matter how much you buy me or how much you
spend. I was ready to get off the ship with you when you had ten bucks in your
pocket. I loved you even then. When you had nothing. You don't have to give me
the world Jack. I already have it. He's standing with his arms around me right
now. You're all I am ever going to need. You are my world, Jack. I love
you." Jack pulled away and looked at Rose. She was smiling again, but this
time there were tears in her eyes. But Jack knew they were not tears of sadness.
He took his hand and wiped the tears off her checks with his thumb. Then, Jack
leaned down to kiss Rose.
"Let's go home Rose." Jack said
wrapping his arms around her waist. Rose just nodded and rested her head
against his shoulder. Together they left their soon to be home, smiling.
